skull studies

i’m designing a tattoo for a friend based on the cover of his favorite album. i sketched the skull, but it was quite wonky- i’ve had a lot of wonky things lately. so it’s time to get to the sketchbook and study.

i studied skulls. here’s the closeup of each sketch.

notes and breakdown

the cheekbones and brow ridges were the most important part for finding the placement of the rest of the facial structure.
edit: i forgot to attach the link to my study folder. i’ll be uploading daily study images to the folder.

Skulduggery Pleasant was one of the first characters I ever created art for. It was also the first time I posted my art online, shamelessly tagging the author on Twitter because I was so proud of it.
In short, it’s partly thanks to this book series that I am posting my art online nowadays, so it seemed fair to do a little something to say thank you!
Since I now work full-time as a concept artist for video games, the character concept art format seemed fitting. :D
Thanks for reading my rambling and thank you for the likes, comments, silly tags, and lovely interactions over the years, and for many more to come, hopefully! Edit : I switched the last board with the correct version... I posted too fast and did not check it was the correct version silly me!

About to upgrade my printer and start making shirts/hoodies/totes etc!
Here is my first graphic design, what do yall think?
