Being a swordsmith's wife is a little difficult, but being Haganezuka's s/o is a whole different story.

He not only gets angry easily but also gets hurt just as easily and of course you are the one to take care of him.

‌Any kind of bruises or cuts annoy him even more than anything else. 

Not because they hurt.... Because they interrupt his work!

"God dammit!" Loud, angry voice fill the forge as a not yet finished sword is thrown across the room. "It's not perfect. I will have to start from the beginning," Haganezuka mutters and suddenly stops at the uncomfortable feeling in his palms. After taking one look at his hands, he can tell what was wrong. He didn't even notice the cuts at first, but they indeed were there. 

So it was time to see you.

‌He is snappy when someone else is offering help.

True. Most smiths hate his guts but still he is one of them, so offering help is something normal, but Hotaru truly hates it!

"Hanganezuka? Maybe you need help?" Someone asks.

"NO! Leave me alone!” He growls in return.

Who the hell they think they are to suddenly offer him help?! Are they looking down on him? That's some kind of joke.

He doesn't need it... Not from them at least. After all he has you.

Any other attempt of helping him ends with an argument. In the end, other smiths stop even trying. 

You are the first and only person he comes to.

At this point, you are pretty used to your husband returning home with his hands hurt in one way or another. Yet it still somehow gets you off guard when in the middle of the day the door suddenly bursts open, and you see a big man in a weird mask while you simply try to enjoy your tea and a day off!

Him showing up isn’t unusual, but after years with him, you know what it means. You put away your nice, hot tea and get up to get the stuff.

‌He doesn't wince or whine. 

Hotaru is just watching you, maybe frowning once in a while, but you don’t really know because of the mask. He doesn't like how it feels when you take care of his injuries, the burning sensation isn’t his favorite, but your touch is great compensation for the moments of pain. 

It soothes the discomfort and immediately makes him feel much better.

Hotaru ALWAYS thanks you.

Each and every time you do this for him, no matter how many times and for how many years. It's a really simple, polite gesture, but it's important for him. 

He is fully aware he isn't the best pick for a husband, yet you picked him for some reason, so it would be only fair to show you how grateful he is.

"Thank you," he says after raising his mask to place a kiss on your forehead and then cheek. 

Hotaru often thanks God for the mask, because your sweet reaction makes even this angry man blush. 

‌Sometimes you scold him.

You understand his craft is important to him, but some days he takes it too far. Getting his hands all cut and bloody, you can't pat him on the head for that!

"How can you do this to yourself? Love, I admire your work and dedication, but you can't keep it up."

He scoffs at your words. "Someone has to make sure you slayers won't fight with bare hands."

"I know that and thank you for this but working so hard is stupid."

“HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT?!” Hotaru quickly gets defensive.

Scolding sometimes turns into heated arguments between the two of you... Ups...

LET'S REVERSE STUFF A LITTLE

You are a demon slayer, so you make sure the village as well as smiths in it are safe. What means: going against demons, what means: sometimes you get hurt.

‌ Information of you getting hurt is one of few things that pull him away from work.

Yes, he is always deep in his work, but the simple mention of you getting hurt makes him drop everything. He needs to know how bad it is? Are you alive? 

So he drops whatever he is doing (even if it means starting from the beginning again) and goes to see you.

‌If it's possible, he helps you himself. 

Haganezuka isn't a master of taking care of others. It's hard for him, but he watched you work so many times, so he follows exactly those patterns. 

He cleans your wounds and wraps them carefully, just like you do with him. 

Also get ready for a kiss on every wound you have, after all kisses make it all better, right?

‌If it's not possible, he entrusts you to a person who knows what to do.

But this process is full of yelling and threats. 

"You better take good care of her! Or I will deal with you myself! She is my wife, remember that!” 

Sometimes even other smiths must hold him in place for the safety of others.

‌He scolds you as well.

That's another thing you should get ready for. Hotaru is your worried husband, so he has a right to do so when his wife isn’t careful enough.

Right after sweet kisses, he will scold you for getting hurt.

"How could you be so stupid!,” He mutters, annoyed. "You should be more careful. You're a demon slayer, not some child with too sharp toy! Being careful should be your priority!"

"B-But..." You try to argue, but you are quickly cut off by him.

"NO BUTS, Y/N,” He snaps at you. "You need to remember about your own safety. Keep other slayers and villagers safe but remember about your own safety too!"

You just sit there and listen, nodding from time to time. It's obvious your husband is worried, and you won’t argue with that. It was understandable, you do the same when it comes to him.

In the end, you care about him deeply, and he cares about you even deeper. Each of you try to keep the other safe and provide help and/or comfort whenever it's needed. 

It's just a simple proof of how much you love each other, and neither of you is going to complain. 

Both of you love it so much, actually.

Yoriichi/Kokushibo relationship headcanons

Summary: my headcanons for both of the Tsugikuni twins, involving their s/o ofc.

Intertwined twins, comparable to night and day.

Yoriichi Tsugikuni:

● Yoriichi is a quiet but loving man.

● He believes that actions speak louder than words.

● On the mornings that Yoriichi is present, you awaken to breakfast in bed.

● Each part of the meal is carefully made with traces of love.

● To Yoriichi, your heaven-sent, and he’ll do anything he can to show you that.

● He tends to spend most of his time with you.

● Yoriichi is willing to do anything you’d like, as long as you're pleased.

● He doesn’t express his love for you very much verbally.

● When he does, his words are beautifully constructed and well thought out.

● Your protection is ensured 24/7.

● Yoriichi wouldn’t possibly let anything happen to you.

● If Yoriichi can’t protect you, nothing can.

● He doesn’t mind what you choose for the two of you to do during the day.

● Do you wish to stay home? He’s taking care of your every need.

● Want to go out? He knows the perfect spot for a quiet picnic.

● He also enjoys when you take care of him and plan things as well.

● Sometimes all he needs is a little pampering.

● Every night, you're in his arms.

● Yoriichi won’t admit it, but he has a fear of the worst happening to you deep down inside.

● His guard is lowered when sleeping, and because of this, he needs to feel you at night.

● If you don’t want to cuddle, that’s fine, but please at least let him hold your hand.

Kokushibo

● Similar to Yoriichi, Kokushibo is a quiet man.

● He enjoys sitting with you in silence.

● Your silent presence is enough for him to keep going.

● Kokushibo cares a lot about your well-being.

● He even feels iffy about letting you cook sometimes.

● When you get hurt, Kokushibo’s words can be very brutal, but he still loves you, hepromises.

● Don’t let his intimidating looks fool you.

● Even a man like him can fall head over heels.

● Kokushibo tends to have a hard time expressing his love for you.

● He tries his best, though.

● Some days you’ll be surprised with fresh flowers, but don’t mention it to him; he doesn’t like speaking about such things.

● Believe it or not, he enjoys cooking and is very skilled at it.

● Kokushibo likes to cook for you most nights as a token of his appreciation for you.

● If you compliment his cooking, his love for you immediately deepens.

● During the night, you both start out facing each other but not touching.

● As the hours go on, he’ll wrap you in his arms.

● Good luck escaping his strong hold each morning; it’s impossible.

● Around the upper moons, not much PDA is shown, but he made sure that everyone knew you were his, especially Douma.

● Nobody dares test Kokushibo or meddle with things that are his.

● He could take care of a problem in the blink of an eye.

● You were more than safe around him.

● Although being with Kokushibo can get hard at times, he loves you with his entire being.

it doesn't matter who liked who first, yoriichi will confess to you as soon as he is sure about his feelings

in the early stages of your relationship, yoriichi is kind of awkward and hesitant about the way he acts around you

he knows that you know how dangerous and difficult his job is as a demon hunter, which is he reassures you all the time, that he will be safe

lets you treat his wounds (very rare though because he always gets out unscathed) because it makes you feel at ease

whenever he comes back from a mission, no matter the duration, he'd always have something for you

be it a new kimono, a trinket, a pair of earrings, or even sweets, yoriichi will never come home empty handed

during his day offs, he'd always ask you if there are places you want to go to or if you only want to stay in

if you choose the former, you two would visit the place you like with yoriichi by your side at all times. not too suffocating nor too far, he's just, there

holds your hand in public as long as you are comfortable with it and takes you to try different cuisines

if anyone gives you any sort of suggestive or ill gaze, all your lover needs to do is to send a condescending gaze to the other person

if ever you want to stay indoors, yoriichi will take this time to help you with the chores

he cooks from breakfast to dinner and tries to minimize your workload

tries to learn how to sew, and does repairs in the faults in the house too

as for sleeping together, yoriichi is fine with either being the small or big spoon, as long as he sleeps nect to you

he prefers to be the small spoon after long missions, while he prefers to be the big spoon on normal days

very gentleman, we already established this on your first date in the night theater

the epitome of beauty, of grace, of purity

yoriichi is everything you'll ever need, you'll ever want

and you're the one he needs, the only one he'll ever need

and as your relationship continues to bloom and grow deeper and stronger, talks about marriage starts to appear

plans about the future are spilled from the lips

and yoriichi is afraid, because nothing is for sure

he's not a god, nor a deity, nor some sort of invincible being, he's no more than just a master of his craft

but yoriichi also wanted to be selfish for once

and it was worth it

the smile on your face when he put the ring on your finger, the blush on your cheeks as you walked down the aisle, the light in your eyes as he pulled you for a kiss

the joy he felt as he tied the knot with you, outwighed all the negative feelings he felt beforehand

cooking meals together, picking fruits in the forest, swimming in the lakes, gardening and planting together

don't forget the silly dances in the living room while he hums your favorite song, the moonlight outside making him look more breathtaking

oh, only if you knew how much yoriichi adored you with every inch of his being

how much he thanks the gods before he sleeps for giving you to him. how much he thanks the gods when he wakes up that he's given another day to be with you

only if you knew how much yoriichi loves you more than his own life and duties

how much he wants to cling to you just like he did to his mother, everyday for the rest of your lives

how much he looks up and respects you because of your strength like his older brother

only if you knew the regret that filled him when he sees you and your unborn child's dead body on the tatami mat

only if you knew that he spent the rest of his life making sure that the same tragedy will never befall on another family

because yoriichi felt at home at last when he sees you and your brilliant smile in the afterlife, your left arm cradling your son

yoriichi felt at home when he had you both in his embrace

because yoriichi tsugikuni, the founder of all the breaths, the strongest there is, got to where he is today because of you

after endless nights of looking at the moon, you gave him the sun, the stars, and everything else

he was chosen by the gods, he was given the strength, the sight, the power and speed. he was chosen to put an end to the misery in the world

and he's glad you chose him

Writing Traumatized Characters

Most characters won't happily talk about their trauma at any given time.

If they do talk about it, that won't besically make the trauma go away (although it's still good to talk to someone).

Give them something that relieves stress (nail biting, drawing on their arms, biting their lip, etc) if someone mentions it or if they think about it.

Don't make every character go through trauma the same exact way.
