The House Targaryen had a long-standing tradition. Every omega born to the family would be promised to another member of the family — an alpha — at birth.

Rhaenyra Targaryen had been promised to her uncle, Daemon, upon her birth. The betrothal had been revoked many years before, for reasons the King Viserys would not name. She took Leanor Velaryon to marry in his place.

Helaena Targaryen was the next omega born into the family. The Queen Alicent refused to betroth her upon her birth. It was years later that she had been hastily promised to her older brother, Aegon, after the Princess Rhaenyra had tried to offer her son Jacaerys as another potential match.

The next and final omega born to the Targaryen House was Lucerys Velaryon.

As soon as the squalling babe was placed into his mother’s arms, he was promised to his uncle, Aemond Targaryen.

The dreadful thunderstorm lashing outside the stone walls of the Red Keep during the betrothal acted as a warning for the tumultuous relationship that would come of the omega and alpha pairing, though none gave a second thought to it.

sometimes lucerys finds aemond in helaena’s room, where he visits her kids. he always talks with them and kisses them on a forehead.

at family dinners, aemond is surrounded by luke’s little brothers, who are in awe of aemond. he even rolls viserys and aegon on his shoulders, making them laugh.

at such moments, lucerys looks at his uncle and can’t help but think gods i want to have a dozen kids with him.

Don’t wanna dredge up old discourse but some of you lucemond writers who write canon-compliant fics don’t make Aemond grovel nearly enough. Luke took his eye and yeah that warrants an apology but Aemond literally kills Luke. Luke is dead in canon because of Aemond. His dragon ate him. Make the man beg and whine and be miserable as he pleads for forgiveness PLEASE —

It isn’t my place to tell anyone how to write their fics but I’m just saying, there is a huge imbalance I’ve seen in which Luke always suffers more even after he apologizes to Aemond.

one major flex is I've hated viserys since episode 1 i watched what that man did to his wife and decided right then and there it didn't matter what anyone else did i would always hate him the most
