Hey there, and happy STS!

Today I'm asking a question about editing: Once you're done with a first draft, what's your editing process (timeline, software, other writer/reader feedback, etc.)?

Thank you for asking!

I don't follow one single pattern for every story but I usually write down any inconsistencies or plot holes I come across on a separate document rather than going back repeatedly to fix something.

Once I'm done with the first draft and I don't think I can find any further improvements to make, I'll have someone else read it and give me their feedback. I have heard that once you are done with a story you should leave it alone for some time and I've found this to be really helpful advice.

Once I receive feedback, I go back and make necessary corrections and then send it to whichever literary magazine I think would suit the story and just hope for the best lol.

Now that I’m getting the hang of things, I think I ought to properly introduce myself!

--About Me--

I’m Marigold (she/her), a 20-something who’s life was derailed right after graduating university by a spondyloarthropathy. While I was sick, I got big into danmei, and now that I’m starting to recover, I’m setting out to write my own (uncensored) web novels inspired by the genre.

I enjoy asks and tag games. I post mostly about writing, my stories, and opinions I have on topics related to them.

I don’t want to forbid minors from engaging with my sfw posts, but I ask that they block my nsfw tag ‘pardon my predilections’. You can read how I use community labels here.

Most of what I want to write features kink, power imbalances, dubcon, and sometimes noncon, to varying degrees. The settings are sometimes western fantasy, sometimes sci-fi, sometimes more danmei-esque. I have a fascination with romances where each lead balances out the other.

Perfect Medicine

August’s own Alpha pheromones are killing him, and he‘s running out of time. His last hope lays in finding an Omega whose pheromones can bond perfectly with his own, but that’s only step one.

Meanwhile, Former Crown Princess Galen has recently killed the man who murdered his husband, and is preparing to face the consequences. Nevertheless, he’s thrown a last-minute lifeline: his execution will be postponed indefinitely as long as he uses his Omega pheromones to treat an Alpha with a rare autoimmune disease.

Are August and Galen bound together by an experimental treatment, a secret relationship, a scandal waiting to happen, or something greater than the sum of its parts?

Noel is shocked when Gaetan, the community’s most eligible bachelor, comes back from the city with a new bride. He’s even more shocked when Gaetan goes missing soon after. However, the worst news by far is when his widow begs Noel for help hunting a monstrous wolf that’s recently appeared to threaten her life. Or rather, he thinks that’s the worst part, until he finds out the wolf isn’t what he expected…

Loose erotic retelling of this French fairytale I read where the werewolf needs his clothes to return to human form

Also what if the hunter and wolf got married at the end?

Set rather vaguely in a funhouse mirror version of historic France where gay marriage is legal, the devil is real, and the church is run by women

Madelaine is very obviously evil, and may have snuck in from another bit of folklore

I don't really have strong feelings on tea, so I definitely went aesthetic with this!

While I prefer to keep Galen and August's appearances deliberately vague, they definitely each have a colour in my mind. Galen is blue and August is brown.

Galen has a refined image but his personality is a little extreme, so I picked a dark colour for the tea and a classic cup design. I couldn't pass up giving him a literal silver spoon, either, and the rose petals evoke his fairytale-like reputation.

August is a combination of dark and serious and light and sweet. He's meant to be closer to normal than Galen, so I picked a more normal tea colour. I thought the candy suited him because he's generally pretty restrained but nevertheless longs to be treated sweetly.

She's made her peace with it, for the most part. It took her a while to learn that she couldn't leave, and that no one was coming to rescue her- she was simply part of the game now, like every other NPC. She lives in a routine carefully crafted to keep her sane.

When siblings Pax and Lovelace come crashing into her life, claiming that they're stuck in the same way she is, her routine comes unraveled, and Chess is forced to reckon with her own situation for the first time in years. She pledges to help Pax and Lovelace escape the Dreamspace, only to realize that means she might have to leave it, too.
