After Math

"Bub," Lyre points to Belen's wrist. There was a large cut on it going down, it was fresh so not self inflicted. Lyre gets the first aid kit, which was always in the car, and starts to clean the wound trying to be careful. Belen stays quiet knowing to not make a noise once she gets concentrated. Once Lyre is done she looks up at him and puts the first aid kit away.

"It didn't hit any veins luckily but there will be a mark there for a while. Luckily with no scar. Now let's go home, want me to drive?" Belen shakes his head and he starts the car starting to drive home. After the long ride home they pull into the driveway and Belen turns off the engine making the two sit in silence. Lyre turns her head to her brother and she takes the keys out of the ignition putting them into Belen's hand. The two get out of their car and go inside. Before going inside Lyre grabs their bags and goes inside locking the door behind her. She puts their bags on the kitchen counter as Belen sits on the couch in the living room a few feet away. Lyre empties their bags putting everything where it goes while Belen turns on the TV and connects Spotify to play their shared playlist of music they listen to after filming a video like this.

Lyre puts the folder and teddy bear in front of Belen on the table since she doesn't know where he wants to put the items. Belen looks at them and stares, Lyre can tell he's zoned out so she leaves him alone. She goes back into the kitchen and puts their bags by the door on the stool that is there in a specific order. Belen is first closer to the door then Lyre's beside it. She enters the kitchen again and makes a small snack platter for Belen, she grabs a glass from the top middle cabinet and fills it with water. She brings it to the table and sets it beside the teddy bear. She sets down the plate as Belen comes back to reality. A small light and movement catches her eyes. She straightens up still with the glass of water now looking down into the hallway that contains the shared bathroom and the rooms that are. Another movement is seen by her and she drops the glass as she makes eye contact with a woman in her brother's room. Everything feels like slow motion as the glass falls. Lyre doesn't move and Belen seems to move too fast. He grabs the glass as the water spills on the ground. He puts the, now empty, glass on the table and stands. Lyre's hand shakes as she keeps eye contact with the girl.

The girl moves from her sight and farther into Belen's room. Belen grabs her shaking hand and moves around the table

"What's wrong sis?" Her free hand points towards his room and Belen starts to walk to his room. He lets go of her hand as he walks signaling her to stay where she is. Lyre follows him and they go into his room. There is no girl but his room is trashed. Lyre goes into her room to check, she thought she saw a shadow by her closet but ends up ignoring it as she looks around. She goes back to Belen's room to see him just looking around. He goes to his window to see it is shut and locked since Belen hates having his window open while he's gone. Belen starts to pick stuff up and puts it back

"Where did she go?" Lyre whispers to herself as she helps Belen pick up items around his room.

"I don't know Lyre," Belen whispers as well. They both go silent with the only thing in the background being the music Belen turned on earlier. Lyre picks up a broken picture frame and turns, bumping her hip into Belen's bureau making the broken glass shift and cuts her hand. She ignores the cut until she begins to bleed. Neither of the twins are Hemophiliac so she didn't worry about it. As she continues to help clean, wiping her hand with a tissue every now and then. As they finish cleaning Belen's room, Lyre's hand has yet to stop bleeding. She leaves the room and goes into the bathroom to clean and bandage it. Belen follows her and shows her the picture he took of his room before they started to clean. He points out the shadow in the corner that wasn't him or Lyre.

"I'm gonna start to edit the video once I stop bleeding, send me that photo and I'll add that to the video." Belen does as told and sends her the photo and the photos he took of his room. An hour or so later her hand finally stops bleeding, she finds it strange but doesn't dwell on it that well. Belen sits on the couch as Lyre sits on the floor with her laptop and the cameras to edit the video. She puts her blue light glasses on and transfers the videos from the camera to the laptop. She opens her editing software as Belen moves the coffee table away from the couch for Lyre to fit comfortably with space on the floor. Lyre moves to the spot he made for her as Belen puts on Reign knowing it was one of Lyre's favorite shows because she belittles it for how wrong it is. She starts by editing the intro and putting the clips together. She starts to watch the clips from Belen's camera first, she puts in the clips from her camera as well with transitions. The more she watches Belen's camera view the more she notices how different their experiences were. 

The Next Day

 The next day Lyre was up at 5 am like usual. She lets Belen sleep in and starts to do her daily chores. Lyre grabs the clothing she laid out the night before and showers. She notices something in the mirror once she gets out, a face. A face is in the mirror staring right back at her. It wasn't the girl's face, it was a males. It was staring at her with wide eyes like it was shocked. The face soon disappears once she speaks..

"hello?" The face quickly disappears from her sight and she looks around with her towel wrapped around herself, but finds nothing. She gets changed into the clothing from before and brushes her hair, putting it up into a simple ponytail and doing her skin care and makeup. After the shower she makes breakfast for herself and Belen, she organizes the living room and kitchen from making breakfast. Belen finally wakes up and goes to take a shower while Lyre makes his plate full of food while she snacks on the made breakfast. Once Belen comes out Lyre takes out the recording equipment and sets it up on the floor so she can sit on the ground with Belen on the couch as their usual set up for these types of videos. Lyre sits with a vlog camera and speaks to Belen.

"I saw a face." Lyre says grabbing Belen's attention immediately, a piece of toast hanging from his mouth

"wut?"

"don't eat with your mouth full. When I got out of the shower I saw a face in the mirror. Nobody to go with the head. It looked shocked....When I said hello it disappeared." Belen swallows loudly and quickly goes to the bathroom. Lyre hears rustling around and Belen letting out a small yelp with a soft thud following right after. Lyre lets out a small laugh before grabbing the small camera and goes into the bathroom to see Belen on his back while he holds his knee with a pained look on his face.

"You alright bud?" Belen nods and lets out a small laugh

"I smacked my knee on the counter!!" Lyre lets out another small laugh. Belen lets out a loud laugh in comparison and gets up, puts on a fake limp and dramatically "limps" out of the room. Lyre follows him and once Belen sits down she sets up the camera. She grabs the folder of things and puts the teddy bear from the reformatory on one side of Belen. She sits beside his right leg where his left leg would have sat if it wasn't tucked under his other. Lyre hits record and Belen speaks first

"Good morning, afternoon, evening, and night to whomever is watching. It is the next day from the previous video on our channel and as you saw I found a large folder full of papers that contained all of the previous patients that have stayed in the reformatory." He pauses to point to the folder and to give Lyre a cue to put in the clip of him finding the folder. Lyre continues to say

"When we got home, Belen's room was trashed and we saw a female face in his room. It looked like someone robbed just his room. My room was fine and so was everything else. This morning when I got out of the shower I saw a face in the mirror looking at me, different from the face I saw yesterday in Belen's room. The face I saw was masculine. We were followed, I want to see if the spirits that followed us were patients. So let's get started." She pauses and slides the folder into view. She opens it and the first face she sees is the ghost that was in the bathroom.

"Why hello again. The first patient we have is Nando Baggi. He was a 22 year old white male who was on the autistic spectrum. He was put into the reformatory at age......age 10. He was one of the first patients in the building and was the last one out. He was found dead the day before the building closed, he was face down unresponsive in his room one day. He overdosed on his medication that was a muscle reactant." She pauses and stares at his face

"this was the face I saw in the mirror..." Belen watches her movements and puts a hand on her head. Belen takes the folder and looks at the next patient. The two take turns going over the patients until they get to Jane Keith. Lyre freezes, recognizes her face then shakes her head slightly and is going to read it but Belen stops and explains how he already read this file before he was attacked.

"she's an 18 year old female who's cause of death is suicide but it's marked down as unknown. She was...was raped by one of the guards names Leo Goldy. She killed him then..yea" he speaks softly and looks down at the floor not at Lyre, but beside her. There's a moment of silence as Lyre joins him in looking down. Lyre has a past in this topic....That's why Belen is reacting like this, it hits close to home.

They continued on as if nothing happened but there was a layer of gloom in the air as they continued on. They finish the video after an hour and a half going through all of the files. Once Belen turns off the recording Lyre looks him in the eyes for the first time since Keith's file.

"Jane." was all she said, catching Belen's attention. He goes back to her and sits on the couch in his usual spot. One leg under him so he can face Lyre who was still seated on the floor.

"That was the face I saw in your room last night."

Could you write something about Carl going out on a run and finding a teddy bear he brings back to you as a gift?

Teddy

Carl Grimes, son of Rick Grimes and lover of you, was out on a run with his father. The father and son duo walk in a comfortable silence, their guns drawn and ready to aim at anything that could cause harm. They were in a new town about an hour away from Alexandria so the two were more cautious than usual.

"Is there a list?" Carl asks his father gently

"Just anything we can find, I guess" Rick shrugs slightly as his eyes dart around tentatively. They go into what looked like a grocery store, the town was small so the store looked more like a convenience store then anything. The windows were boarded up and the door was hanging off of the hinges. Rick goes in first while Carl watches outside, the father gives his son the clear and Carl rushs inside.

"Time to look around" Carl mumbles to himself. He knew you have been having a bad time lately and have been in a funk. Carl was hoping to find something to make you smile, Rick knew of this and focused more on gathering supplies while his son found something did you. The two split up in the small store and quickly scan around the building, they find some cans and a gallon of water before moving back outside. They can feel the wind against their skin as they go to the next building, it looked like it was in ruins so onto the next they went. It was a small home. Maybe 2 bedroom, one bath and it was one floor. They went inside quietly and checked each room to make sure no walkers or people were in it before beginning their search of the home. Rick handles the living room, kitchen, and dining room while Carl looks through the bedrooms and bathroom plus any closets. He starts with the closets finding a fluffy blanket for you, it was still nice and folded up. The blanket itself was black and looked to be a good size to cuddle in. He goes into the bathroom next and finds some pain meds as well as old mouthwash

"Ew" he whispers and puts that away before ending his search of the bathroom. He goes into the first bedroom, it was the parents room, their room was a mess,

"And I thought I was messy" he whispers again and looks around finding nothing but a pretty necklace, as he looks closer at it he can see that some of the metal is broken

"Hm" he puts it into his pocket for now then goes it into the final bedroom. The children's room. Inside was a large but broken bunk bed, the different sheets on the bed showing it was a boy and a girl. He goes through the closet first finding nothing but a bunch of old toys. He spots in the rubble of the bed was some fluff. He goes over and moves a piece of wood seeing a dusty teddy bear. Carl always called you his teddy bear from how you cling to him at night so he thought this was perfect.

"Just some cleaning and this will be perfect" he thinks to himself and finishes up in the room before going back out. He sees Rick finishing up as well.

"Find anything interesting?" Rick asks his son

"A blanket and a teddy bear as well as some pain meds. You?" Rick nods knowing who the blanket and teddy bear were for and speaks,

"I found a few bottles of water, some batteries and bandages. This place is clean"

"Should we continue into the next houses?"

"No, it's gonna get dark soon. We should head back" Carl nods at his father and they begin their trek back to Alexandria. They get back to the large gates as nightfall hits, they're let inside and separate after Carl hands Rick the items he found beside the blanket and teddy bear. He goes to the lake and quickly washed the teddy bear and shakes it quickly to try and dry it off. He starts to shake it aggressively to quicken up the drying process. The bear is about 90% dry by the time his arms get tired from aggressively flailing the bear around. He stands and goes to his house where he knows you're waiting, you can't sleep without him so he rushed home knowing you like to sleep early.

  Carl through the house and up to his room where he sees you, dressed in one of his flannels and curled around his pillow with your eyes closed. He knew you weren't asleep, a small smile forms on his thin lips. He slowly walks over to you and sets the blanket and teddy bear down. He unfolds the blanket and lays it over you, your eyes open from the sudden feeling.

  "Carl?" You whisper softly as your eyes adjust in the dark

  "It's me Bear" he comes more into view and smiles making you smile slightly. He grabs the teddy bear and show you it

  "Look at what I found for you, a Teddy bear for my Teddybear." He wiggles it a bit and puts it close to you. You smile brightly at the sight

  "Thank you" you were never able to save your childhood bear so this meant a lot to you.

  "Your welcome bear now let me into the cuddle zone" he says playfully and you open the blanket for him to snuggle into. He takes off his shoes and pants then takes off his flannel and shirt, so he's only wearing his boxer shorts. He gets all cozy under the blanket and hugs you close to his chest and holds the teddy up. He makes the teddy dance a bit to make you smile. He smiles at the lovely sight of the corners of your lips turn up in a sleepy smile. He can see you yawn so he hugs you and the teddy closer as you fall asleep in his arms.

Finale

Lyre looks around quickly seeing nothing wrong with her room

"what?" She opens her closet and sees nothing wrong there either. She looks at Belen who looks very confused. He looks at Lyre,

"So whoever is here did nothing to your room or mine. Maybe they just left?" Belen moves to the side so his back is to a wall not liking the feeling he got when his back was to the open door. He sees Lyre start to breath a bit heavy

"Who is here though? We know Jane is here for some dumb fuck reason. James is somewhere and protected us both from a fucking demon shadow thing! Nando saw me fucking naked. I swear I saw another human being in the hallway of the new hell. We left a dead body of a man to rot in a building that not many people have access to. You even saw someone earlier that looks like me telling you that you basically killed me!" Lyre starts to pace while ranting, as she speaks her voice gets louder until she's yelling loudly.

"calm down Lyre. Let's go for a ride"

"It is almost 4 am." her voice is at it's usual level now

"I know it's almost 4 am, but I don't think you can be in this apartment right now. We both don't know what happened or how to get rid of it. But we will figure it out." Lyre finally stops her pacing and looks at Belen silently.

"you're overwhelmed. Last time you were this overwhelmed, you went away. Let's not have that again okay? Let's leave the apartment, go eat and calm down." Lyre lets out a heavy breath then nods. She walks to Belen slowly and goes past him to the living room. Belen follows her after grabbing the camera that was still on and sees her paused and looking at the kitchen and dining room area of their apartment.

"Lyre. Let's go, we'll come back to clean it up later." Belen pushes her lightly to the front door. Belen sets up the camera facing the kitchen area and sets up another small one that they normally use while exploring and sets it up facing their bedroom doors. Lyre waits patiently for him facing the front door. She still has her shoes on with the apartment keys in one of her hands and jacket in her other. Belen grabs his jacket and makes sure the lights in the kitchen are on, he checks his phone to see if the camera was working and it was.

"Let's go Ly, what do you wanna eat?" Belen asks her as she leaves immediately and makes a long b-line for the jeep. Belen follows his sister and he gets into the driver's seat.

"I don't know...." was her response in a soft voice making Belen look at her concern. He knew what that voice was and didn't like it.

"wanna go raid 7-Eleven?" He asks her in the same voice she used earlier, making her nod. Belen settles in his seat after a moment and starts the jeep, he moves slowly to not scare the apparent damaged girl beside him.

"our viewers will be seeing a different side of us..." Lyre breaks the small amount of silence as Belen drives out of the parking area of the apartment building,

"That's all you care about? The viewer's reactions? Ly.." he pauses thinking of how to work what he was about to say

"What's going on in your thoughts? Also.. do you want to go on a bit of a hiatus from social media for a bit? I know how much your brain can handle... This is too much" He glances at his sister then back at the road continuously as he speaks. She stays quiet and doesn't respond for a while. In the midst of the silence Belen pulls into a nearby 7-Eleven that they used to frequent during nights like this a few years ago. They get out of the jeep and go in looking around. Lyre notices a different person from before at the counter, then again it was 2 years ago so that person has probably moved away or has a better job. She goes to her aisle and Belen does the same as the quiet music that plays in the small convenience store is heard. Lyre gets a mini can of pringles and moves to get some gummy bears. She grabs the sour kind and makes her away to the drinks. She grabs one of the large Brisk drinks and turns to find Belen. She looks down the aisles and finds him staring at the chips, where she recently was, with a bottle of gatorade in his hand and 2 kitkats in his other hand. She goes over and stands beside him as he looks to make the biggest decision of his life. Lyre lets out a small chuckle as Belen releases a deep breath that he seemed to be holding in.

"The purple diretos are your favorite. You stare at them for the longest out of everything" he nods and grabs the said chips,

"but prepare for the toilet to clog." Lyre quickly butts in making him drop the bag before he can take it off the shelf fully.

"That is true, the blue version is the winner." He takes the blue chips off the shelf and gently pushes Lyre to the cashier since she was the closest to the man staring at them looking like he was judging the two. The siblings go over and pay separately for their treats. They go to the jeep and sit in their usual spots, Belen puts his drink in the center console in the drink holder and puts his snacks on Lyre's lap since she won't let the food fall. Lyre opens her gummy bears, a candy she's loved since she was a child. Belen drives them to a random parking lot and is handed his food courtesy of Lyre. He lets out a small cheer making his sister laugh a bit. They eat in silence until Belen goes on his phone and connects it to the jeep, he plays a random playlist full of Lyre's favorite songs. They eat with the songs playing until they get tired

"should I drive back to the apartment?" Belen speaks up in a soft voice and looks at Lyre. She looks tired and just nods in response, feeling her stomach drop for some reason. She looks around as she feels like the world is spinning, a feeling she gets when she wakes up from a deep sleep. He nods as well and takes a sip of his drink, he puts it down and puts his snacks on the car floor before starting to drive home. Once home they go inside and see everything is back to normal?

"What the?" Belen whispers to himself while looking around and Lyre walks forward looking at everything. She turns to Belen and sees him on the floor looking up at her

"you lived. Time to wake up."

"Wake up?"

"for mom and dad. You have to wake up." Lyre tilts her head and sees something out of the corner of her eyes. She looks at it then back at Belen not seeing him there. She takes a step back then looks into the living room seeing a bit of light. She feels like it's calling to her, she freezes feeling a pull in the opposite side. She turns around completely seeing another light with voices calling to her. A feeling of comfort comes over her but then sadness hearing the sounds of screams of sorrow. She goes to the screams and sees darkness. The next time she opens her eyes she's welcomed by bright lights aimed directly towards her eyes. The screams get softer and turn into cries. She chokes feeling a long tube down her throat, someone who seems like a nurse comes over and quickly gets the tube out of her throat. She stops choking and lets out a few coughs before she is hugged by her mother and father who were the ones screaming from earlier,

"We thought we lost you too!" her mother cries out.

"What do you mean?" Lyre asks, now confused and concerned, she didn't see Belen anywhere?

"there was a crash.... You made it... Belen didn't...." her father stutters out softly and her mother lets out some more sobs into Lyre's shoulder as the world stops around her. Everything was a dream?

"So we didn't go to Haven Reformatory?" Lyre speaks to her father softly

"you were on the way there. The steering broke on the jeep and you guys crashed, Belen died on impact..." Lyre looks down. So what she said while she was asleep.... that's what could have happened... If only they got that steering fixed.
