Ok, Funnily Enough, Me And My Bf Were Just Talking About Those Takes And Just This Is Some Good Tea Here!
Ok, funnily enough, me and my bf were just talking about those takes and just this is some good tea here! It's also apparently mentioned that he opened or ran a clinic himself while still continuing his research which would have definitely required some form of licensing here to do that? Either way, he would have definitely needed something to be able to do that sort of thing to begin with there.
Persona fans be like “Oh Maruki’s not a real therapist lol!!!! I can’t believe Shujin hired a fake psychologist, they must not care at all!!!!” as if it ISN’T possible to um maybe go to fucking school again? Pick a new major or get a second one? Get multiple degrees? Not to mention he was originally qualifying to become a COGNITIVE PSIENTIST, so it may be likely he already had something in the field of psychology… Also he would have been arrested if he was faking as a therapist.

Ooo! That last one is actually a good point! From what I've heard about P4 and it's development, it's definitely messy. Especially since some of the cut content was, well, cut at the last minute. Strikers definitely took a risk in that area and while I can't say it's perfect either, I'd say it paid off tremendously!
And yeah, I was ok with Haru's arc in Strikers at first but then I looked back at it noticed some issues. Namely how it felt stagnant or like she didn't change much (her showing concern for a sick worker is new)? People would say the same about the others but there was at least something different added to the table and they used the strengths and morals they learned in the previous game to reach out the Monarchs. Haru just remains mourning which I would say fair enough but at the same time it seems like even Atlus was lost on what to do with her other than that trait and the tropes they would primarily use for comedy (which isn't bad sometimes per se and people have different tastes, just got old quick (ex: the "We despise the police" jokes in 1st arc which I wouldn't say is bad, just felt forced along with the fact that it probably would have worked better if said by someone else as she would the least amount of problems with the police realistically but like I said, not terrible but could have been better)). I guess that's why she's such a mixed bag for me because she can be endearing in one moment but then stale and frustrating in the next moment. Like you said, her situation is complicated. It's just that there wasn't any or enough focus on it. Let alone to make her likable or relatable sometimes (but that depends on the person).
You know, I've often seen takes (mostly anti) that basically say that Maruki should have been punished for his actions... Mostly of the severe/horrific kind that even involves Joker letting him fall to his death (which is SEVERELY OOC btw). Though to be perfectly honest... He actually does when you think about it, it's just more subtle. As he said during his breakdown, he gave up everything for his dream and he's not exactly wrong. He's lost his perfect reality, his research/his life's work, he doesn't get back with Rumi as one would expect, he fully quits his job as a counselor/therapist, he's lost everything except for maybe Shibusawa and the PTs themselves. The biggest thing is though, is that he starts to let go of those losses and uses them to start over. He even uses his job as taxi driver to help Joker get away from the police and seems more than happy to do so. Also, remember his final interaction with Joker which best sums up one of Royal's main messages:
So yeah, I feel like he already faced punishment for what he did. But as per the message there, he uses it to improve and heal and potentially atone. That's at least my takeaway here.
Plus remember how Ichinose tried to turn herself in at the end of Strikers only to be rejected because no one believed her about the supernatural occurrences (her case was odd though because Zenkichi was exposed to it too so he could've vouched for her story there, then again he would probably be dismissed too but it's hard to say) so jail time wouldn't work if Maruki even remotely tried (which I wouldn't be surprised if he did but who knows).
Persona April 25th times came out, this time revealing a concert in October!
This is exciting for many reasons - I know a lot of people are upset and disappointed there were no game announcements this month, but let me say it plainly - at this point, do not expect any game announcements from P25. Clearly that’s not what the anniversary announcements are meant for, and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean that Atlus isn’t making games. They still are, and those games will be announced when they are ready to be announced. In the meantime, we can be happy about this concert, because…
It’s STREAMING WORLD WIDE!! AHHHH!!!!! Tickets are going on sale in early May, so be on the look out, because these concerts are always phenomenal. I’m really hoping to be able to watch this one live, because I’ve never gotten the chance in the past.
On top of that, many heavy hitting persona news networks are all speculating that there’s going to be some big news revealed at this concert. Traditionally, the October concerts have revealed some huge announcements in the past. According to Persona Central, Persona Super Live has revealed:
-P5 in 2015
-P3D, P5D, PQ2 in 2017
-P5R and P5S in 2019
So get excited!!!! But again, if there isn’t a game announcement, please do not get angry at Atlus. Just because they’re not pumping out games every month doesn’t mean they’re not working hard to put out quality titles. You have to remember they’re a relatively small company. They can only do so much.
The other P25 announcements revealed were the mouthwash that was revealed earlier in the month, and P5 the Stage part 4. Outside of that, we also got the reveal of the cover art for the P5 manga part 10. Exciting stuff for me to wake up to.
This!!!
Also, if I may: There can be a small foreshadowing bit of that when she was getting harassed by that older man earlier in the game and her distress shifted to a more aggressive demeanor or something which ended up scaring him off before Joker could intervene and she's oblivious to that as she shifted back to her default personality and talks to Joker like nothing just happened. It can also be good indication of how flawed the filter that was put on her was.
i think sumire should have just been allowed to be feral and an asshole in third semester.
we get so many female characters who have to be meek about their trauma and i think sumire should have just been allowed to let loose. she wanted to die so badly that she didn’t feel remorse that her sister died, she just wanted her place when the new spot for kasumi was suddenly open.
making her meek and submissive romance material completely side steps a lot of her terrible and nasty traits i think she should be allowed to express and focus on. she’s never held accountable for any of the bad things she says or does. akechi has just as many self esteem issues and he’s allowed to fully embrace and act out the fact he has unfavorable traits, so is sumire just not allowed to because she’s a girl? because it’s not “attractive” to have a female character so fully embrace a lot of traits that’d turn her from being perfect girlfriend material into the main instigator of her own pain and misery from her own selfish self hate that got her sister killed?
she should have just been allowed to let loose. let her embrace not being a perfect, decent human being. it’s not a crime to talk about how your trauma has warped you into a person who’s followed through on pretty terrible things.
Hi! Just found your blog and to spread my weirdness...
I just accidentally made an op Odin! :D
Have a good day/night!!
Oh? Odd but ok! You have a good day/night too!

Like, do I agree that there were some parts of the games and characters that could have been done a lot better? Oh yeah, definitely. It's not perfect but hardly any game was. Do they still deliver and focus well on some core messages when they do so? Yep! You basically hit the nail on the head really!
It's honestly a refreshing take since I've seen things like, for example, "P5 Strikers is pro-police when P5 is anti police" when... That's not exactly the main point? Strikers is giving another look at what goes on inside and how even adults (including some that are technically in a high power such as law enforcement) can suffer under abuse and corruption but that doesn't mean some aren't fully irredeemable. It's just looking at a different perspective if that makes sense? Idk, I did a full analysis on those arguments a while back so that might explain better. 😅
