Guardian Spirits: Butterflies
Guardian Spirits: Butterflies

Have you ever noticed that when there’s butterflies around, good things tend to happen? It’s a common belief in many cultures that butterflies are a sign that a guardian spirit is with you. It is believed that when a loved one dies, they can send a butterfly your way as a sign of good fortune or as a warning that a transitional change is to happen in your life.
Usually the most common sightings of guardian spirit butterflies are white or a pastel yellow in color. These butterflies are said to represent souls, as white is a color for purity and peace. Some people believe that these are “angels” sent to bring you peace and harmony. They will either follow you and flutter around you alone, or in a pair of two, depending on how many loved ones are trying to reach out to you. It is also said that it might not always be a loved one, but a guardian soul that has chosen you, guiding you in the right direction of life, much like a familiar.
When you see these butterflies, thank them for coming. Most butterflies are symbolic for metamorphosis, so it is important to look at the aspects of your life that might need a change for the better. Perhaps tap into your divination skills and try to communicate with it.
If you find a fallen butterfly, (one that has already passed) their wings can be collected and used in spells for transformation and change. But don’t just go around killing butterflies for their wings!
I hope this was informative, and may you be surrounded by many beautiful butterflies. Blessed be )O(

Liminal Spaces in Witchcraft

First of all, what is a liminal space? A liminal space refers to a place or time that is in a period of transition between two phases. These are usually places where reality feels altered because you are neither moving forward or backward, like a rest stop. The word liminal originates from the Latin word limens, meaning threshold. These places often give off a sense that time stands still and that you are experiencing some sort of reality shift.
In magic and witchcraft these spaces are considered to be the boundary between our world and the other, it is known as “the in-between”. These places are considered areas of great magic because it is believed this is where the veil is thin. These places are great for divination, spirit work, meditation and astral travel; they are ideal for hedge witchcraft.
Times & Spaces of Liminality:
crossroads manmade or natural
river, creek or lake shores/ beaches
hallway/corridor/stairwells/landings/doorways
graveyards
dawn, dusk, afternoon, midnight
valleys
forest glades
many more!
Samhain/Halloween is considered the best time to communicate with spirits and faeries because of its liminality, it is a time of transition between autumn and winter. Irish folklore tells that this is the day faeries and ghosts come out to play because of the veil thinning. The equinoxes and sabbats like Beltane and Imbolc are also days of liminality because the time of day and night are equal (equinoxes) or it is a transition between seasons.
Mental states of liminality are also times of spirit communication. While being in a meditative state we are in a state of transition between our concious and sub-concious minds, this is where we sometimes experience astral projection or messages from spirits. People often experience spirit while falling asleep because this is another state of liminality.
In my craft I often practice in liminality in order to connect with the faerie realms.

Hi! I love your blog and I hope you don't mind me asking but do you have any info on any precautions about casting curses? Like I know how to curse, and how to undo it, but are there any consequences I should be aware of? Are there precautions I should take? Is all that stuff about it coming back to bite you true? Sorry if I'm being a bother but everyone seems to gloss over that part when they talk about casting curses and I don't want to do something dumb if I ever decide to try it
From what I’ve understood, the biggest precautions you cantake when you curse is shielding yourself, as to protect yourself from arebound, or the curse going wrong. You might also want to cleanse yourselfbefore you curse, and ensure that you’re in the right head-space before youcurse, as to not put yourself in danger.
That said, the stuff about your curse coming back IS NOTTRUE. It isn’t something that happens all the time, and if it does it’s eitherbecause the person you cursed sent our curse back to you, or because you didsomething wrong. I even accidentally cursed myself once.
That’s a wiccan belief known as the 3-fold law and does notin any way, shape, or form apply to your craft.
Some people suggest divination before you curse, but I personallythink it’s up to you (though I do consult my pendulums before I do anythingbig).
Make sure your intent and your target is clear. I believe my failure to do that was how I ended up cursing myself.
Also look into gems to protect yourself—especially the darkones. They usually absorb negative energy.
This all said, I recommend continuing to do research beforeyour curse, just to make sure you do so safely and efficiently! I am not an expert on cursing, and when I curse or hex, I usually do so sloppily. So I invite others who are more knowledgeable in this area to add on!

Energy Manipulation Exercise: for beginners
This is a little exercise for anyone that wants to begin going into energies and such. Do a little or as much as you’d like every day and you’ll find other exercises easier after having this foundation.
So, to begin, sit in a comfortable position and space. You can sit however you’d like, just make sure you have your hands available.
Start grounding yourself. You can close your eyes here if you feel comfortable doing so. Take a 3 second breath in through your nose and a 3 second exhale through your mouth. Continue doing this until you feel your heart and lungs begin to sync up and your center aligning.
Take your hands out in front of you. Personally, I find having them lined up to my ribcage the most powerful, but if you feel like you get a better reaction by holding them above your head or where ever, go for it man. With your hands out, face your palms together with your hands slightly cupped.
Start with your hands closer together, but not touching. Visualize your energy moving from your chest all the way down your arms and into your hands. You can visualize anything here, sometimes a visualization or sensation just happens, if this occurs, roll with it and embrace it. This is your energy.
Visualize your energy coming out of the palms of your hands. Now, at this point, start moving your hands away from each other and back closer again very slightly. You should just be slightly wavering your hands. If you feel a bit of resistance between your hands when they come closer to each other again, almost as if you’re squeezing a ball, then you’ve successfully created a ball of energy. Continue squeezing the ball between your hands.
This is generally a good starting point. It may take a few tries for you to feel anything, but once you do, get comfortable making a strong ball of energy between your hands.
But, if you want continue, the next step would to be to make the ball bigger. As you’re wavering your hands, start taking longer pulling them apart. Go bit by bit farther apart from each other. You may feel a temperature difference if you’ve gone too far away from your ball compared if you are close to it.
Aftercare (I guess you could call it lol) consists of you recharging. For someone who has never done energy work before, it can be draining. How I like to close this exercise off is by bringing my hands together all the way until they are clasped together. Feeling the energy dissipate or be reabsorbed by my hands lets me know that I don’t have any residual energy wafting around.
Afterwords, take a break. Drink some tea, watch a movie, do whatever that you like and recharges you that you don’t have to put a lot of effort into. Regaining the energy that you’ve let out into the world is an important part of energy work; if you don’t do it, then . you’ll just run yourself dry and ragged.
✰Have fun! ∩(︶▽︶)∩
