Hot Shot - Sweet Pea x Reader (Part 2)

Summary: You’re a hot shot business lawyer and used to live in Riverdale with FP, you’re called back to help with a case involving Jughead and meet Sweet Pea, who becomes enamoured.

Part 1

A/N: Here is part 2! This is a bit of a filler part really, things need to be moved on and I don’t want to do it too quickly! Anywaaaaay, let me know if you like it! Also, my requests are open at the moment!

You sat in FP’s trailer with him, it was the critical first 48 hours of the case, so you needed to get up to speed quickly. Jughead had already been charged due to the evidence the police had already collected but you’re confident that you’ll be able to turn things around or get him a minimal punishment. As it’s Jughead’s first offence, you’re confident you’ll be able to get him back home on bail.

“Aren’t you going to ask if he did it?” FP asks you, turning his body fully to yours, hands settling on his thighs.

“You don’t think I already know?” You smirk slightly, you’re a lawyer, you have an excellent judge of character, you know how to analyse evidence and you know Jughead. “Of course he did it, but I’ll get him out of trouble anyway.”

FP let out a chuckle. “You’re right. It’s Jug, of course he did.” His hand strokes over his face with a sigh. “He’s always getting himself into trouble.”

“Well he has you for a dad, FP.” You tease lightly, placing your hand over the one that’s still on his thigh. “How are you holding up, FP?”

FP’s face falls a little, it’s clear to you that he’s not as put together as he’s trying to appear. “I’m just scared for him, Y/N. I know what it’s like to be in a jail cell and a prison cell. He’s not a strong as I am.”

“Maybe not, but he’s stronger than you think.” You give FP a small smile and one appears on his face in response.

“How’ve you been doing in the big apple?” FP smirks, he’s proud of you, he always has been. “Seeing anyone yet?”

You sigh. “Same old, same old. All of the cases are so similar, it’s frustrating.” You roll your eyes. “I’m too busy to date, the only guys I meet are other lawyers and they all think too highly of themselves.” The last boyfriend that you’d had was 3 years back and he’d gotten fed up of how little time you had for him, because you were always in the office or the court room. In the years since you’d only had a handful of hook ups, during rare nights off.

“You need to let go a little bit sometimes, Y/N.” FP chuckles, shaking his head in disbelief. “I know this was always your dream, but you just don’t seem happy anymore.” You’d wanted to be a lawyer for a long time, but if you’re being honest with yourself, you’d gotten into the wrong area of law. Business law was very superficial, with businesses fighting for more money and sticking knives in the back of partners and employees. After you’d made your name, and your fortune, in business law, it would be hard to change course now.

“Well, I’m not unhappy.” You frown slightly and look down at your folded hands. You had a lot going for you in life, you were a very powerful lawyer, who had a very big pay packet. There wasn’t a lot you could be unhappy about. But you were pretty lonely.

“Sweet Pea’s a good kid you know.” Your eyes snap to FP’s and your jaw drops open at his not so subtle suggestion.

“FP!” You scold incredulously. “He’s Jug’s age! He’s only 21!”

FP shrugs with a small smile. “I’m just saying!”

“Anyway!” You quickly change the subject. “I’ll go and see Jughead tomorrow and talk things through with him, let him know the game plan.”

“Thank you so much for this, Y/N. You just dropped everything and came straight away.” FP’s voice is soft, and you can tell how much it means to him that you dropped everything for his son. With FP’s case you couldn’t do too much because he had confessed and with Fangs’ case he didn’t end up needing much help, but this time you were going to really have to work for this.

“FP, you’re my family, of course I’d drop everything!” You give him a sad smile, wishing you could visit more for happier circumstances. You pull FP into a hug and he buries his head into your neck, you can feel a slight wetness on your skin, but you say nothing, instead bring a hand to the older man’s hair and stroking gently.

When FP pulls back from the embrace, his eyes are glossy, and his cheeks are slightly damp, but you say nothing still, knowing how proud the Serpent King is.

“Thank you.” He murmurs and stands to show you out of his trailer. He presses a kiss to your temple and lets you disappear into the night.

The next day you go to visit Jughead at the Riverdale Police Station. The pair of you are led to an interview room where you can speak privately.

“Jughead, it’s good to see you again.” You give the man a warm smile. You don’t think you’ve ever seen him look so tired or small. “If only it was under better circumstances.”

Jughead grunts slightly and regards your grey skirt suit with careful eyes. “Okay, be straight with me. How long am I looking at for this?” He asks, leaning over the table to look you in the eyes.

You set your hands on the table and clear your throat. “If you are found guilty, then it can be up to 5 years in prison and an extremely hefty fine. I am confident that I should be able to get you off your charges. I also believe that the Mayor does not have a strong case for slander, as you never lied.”

Jughead leans back in his chair with a groan, 5 years is a long time. “What if I take a plea deal?” He asks.

“It depends how good the deal is, but it would also mean saying that you did it and having a felony following you around for the rest of your life. At this point in time, I am confident I can turn the evidence around on the prosecution. We may have to revisit the idea of a plea deal in the future though.” You explain your feelings to Jughead and the young Serpent nods as he listens.

“Okay.” Jughead nods his head sharply letting his hair fall into his eyes, before peering up at you. “Aren’t you going to ask if I did do it?”

“Your dad asked me the same thing.” You let out a small laugh at the similarities of the Jones men. “I think we both already know.” You give him a pointed look before pulling some paperwork out of your bag.

“Unless you object, I’m going to get the paperwork in motion to get you released on bail so that you don’t have to stay in these cells. I’m confident you’ll be granted bail as you’re young and it’s a first time, non-violent offence.”

Jughead nods and you start to fill in the paperwork before pushing the papers to him with a pen for him to sign. He grimaces at the sight of his real name on the official paper work but scribbles his signature down and shoves the papers back at you.

“Right, that’s all for today, I’ll get these papers filed and once I know more I’ll come back to visit you.” You stand and gather your bag and the papers before knocking on the door to alert the police officer outside that you’re done with your meeting. The police officer enters the room with a grunt and handcuffs Jughead to escort him back to his cell.

As Jughead walks through the door he turns back to you. His voice is hoarse, but his eyes are soft with gratitude. “Thank you for this.” You smile at him and give a small nod in return, watching as the officer pushes him forward and they disappear further into the station where the cells reside.

You file the bail papers and leave the station, making your way to the Whyte Wyrm to regroup with FP. When you enter the bar, FP is nowhere to be found, so you make your way towards the pool table where you can see Fangs and Toni.

“Hey guys, is FP around?” You ask and the pair turn to face you.

“He’s just gone out on a job Y/N, sorry.” Fangs explains with a small shrug.

“Is there anything we can help you with?” Toni gives you a smile, knowing that you rarely come to Riverdale.

“It was just about Jughead’s case, it can wait though.” You assure them. You then feel a presence behind you and turn to see Sweet Pea standing cross armed with a smirk. Sweet Pea’s eyes flicker from your head to your toes and you suddenly feel overdressed in your suit in the Serpent bar.

“Hey there.” His voice is silky smooth, and his cool demeanour makes him seem older than his 21 years. “I was hoping I’d see you again.” You hear Fangs snigger behind you and you wonder just how many women he’s seen Sweet Pea hit on over the years.

“Well, here I am!” You laugh awkwardly, waving your arm around slightly, you never have been the best with men.

Sweet Pea chuckles and passes his pool que to Toni. “Let me buy you a drink.” He asks, more demands, nodding his head in the direction of the bar. You hesitate, he’s too young for you, too confident. He’s a gang member and you’re a lawyer. Sensing your hesitation Sweet Pea adds “Just one.” With a small pout and you can feel yourself giving in.

“Just one.” You agree.
