Dear Dionysus, Son of Semele See the smoke drenched stars? Sing with me tonight

Patron god of bacchic cry and bohemian rhapsody Dionysus dysphoria That ancient young-and-old god for the Freshman postgraduate That new-fangled divinity Run, run, Bacchae, bringing the roaring god

 See the silent student?

Dionysus of the double birth, the silver vine- of the student discount and cheap shots Dionysus of the questioning, the knowing, god of all those whose parents disagree. That green-crowned god of madness and mercy

See that sadness?

Dedicate to you; The free heating in the library Shrines of broken bottles and empty parking lots That skipping step before sobriety That slamming force of a past-gone moment
