hpd culture is having barely any personal boundaries for what you will and wont tell people you will literally just tell anyone anything if it makes them pay attention to you for a bit

HPD apl culture is mistaking wanting attention (and at the time having friendship be the only way to get it) from peers for platonic attraction and plato-favorability

anyways i think we should be able to acknowledge the misogynistic roots of hysteria and how that relates to the history of histrionic personality disorder without completely discounting, dismissing, and invalidating people who actually have hpd and actually fucking struggle with the symptoms lmao

at the end of the day i literally still struggle with an intense need for attention and pretty much most, if not all, of the criteria for hpd 💀 this is my very real lived experience and struggle, claiming thats not real isnt fucking fair or right

i really cannot stand how angry and upset i get when people don’t pay attention to me. its like they’re purposefully ignoring me to piss me off

hpd culture is telling like 5 different people the exact same thing in the exact same way to get the most attention out of it and also incase someone doesn't respond

hate when people are busy you should never be doing anything except eagerly waiting for me to talk to you

i don't know who needs to hear this specifically but with the influx of discord servers dedicated to only mental illness discussion and spaces that only talk about racial discourse etc.

don't join those. those are echo chambers, and they will effect how you see your life. if you only focus on your mental illness or disabilities or only focus on racism you experience i know it may feel good to have a community where you can say "well i know this because i am this and no one else understands me if they're not this" or spaces where you can "educate" people who join but you are isolating yourself from actual society. it's a form of isolation. please find mixed social servers with many different people and many different opinions and branch out. communities like these ruined my view of the world and made me assume no one was like me at all out there if they didn't fit a cookie cutter definition and I do not want anyone else to fall into that.

you will find other people like you that aren't prone to community isolation for things that make humans human ! and it will feel liberating

Racists pretend that "black lives matter" means "only black lives matter". They already know it's false, but they want black people to go crazy trying to prove it.

Homophobes and transphobes pretend that LGBT people are pedophiles. They already know it's false, but they want LGBT people to go crazy trying to prove it.

The vast majority of the people doing that are not mentally ill.

And ironically, the people who believe in "narcissistic abuse" are guilty of this. They know that "narcissistic abuse" isn't real and that abuse is normalized by society. But they want narcissists to go crazy trying to prove it.

The pandemic is all the proof you need that "narcissistic abuse" isn't real.

People refused to be even slightly inconvenienced to protect public health.

People insisted that a million deaths is no big deal.

People openly bragged about not caring who lives and who dies.

People believed that since it's mostly "undesirables" who die, the deaths can be ignored.

And they're not psychopaths, sociopaths, or narcissists. Most have no mental illnesses of any kind.

It's very clear that mental illness is not what makes people evil.

I love anyone and everyone with a personality disorder. These disorders are so heavily stigmatized. We need more love in the community.

people with personality disorders are treated like garbage and we don't deserve it. most clinicians don't even know enough about personality disorders to know beyond borderline and narcissistic PDs, and even then, they have a very skewed and ableist view of both of those conditions. it's not your fault and you're not faking your condition if your clinician literally just does not know about your condition- it means they haven't done their research and need to, immediately.

if you have a personality disorder, i have nothing but respect for you. you have to fight tooth and nail to be seen, treated, and heard, and to be treated like a person, in medical settings, and personal ones.
