I didn’t do a whole breakdown of his outfit, but know that he wears red because Charles' hero color is very much red, in honor of his comic book counterpart's red sweater.

Also his whole outfit is inspired by mod and ska subcultures. From the chain, to his earring, to his shoes. Everything is reminiscent of the 80s.

And he maintains the red throughout all the season, to a burgundy polo in ep.3 to suddenly a black one to reflect his turbulent emotional state. Finally coming back to red eventually.

I'm thinking about how 20-year-old Todd Anderson is okay. That he is studying literature and working part-time as a barista in a cafe downtown. That his parents no longer gift him desk sets; they tend to forget him altogether. That he hasn't met up with the poets in months even though they swore they would keep in touch for Neil's sake. That he was devasted by his partner's death for months, years, but Todd Anderson is okay now. Thinking about how he starts going out with this guy when he is 21. How he just happens to be a brunet who likes theatre. That he really likes this boy. How he shoves down any feelings of uncertainly and uneasiness. How he shuts his eyes really hard when they are kissing to avoid all possibility of seeing Neil in him. How there is nothing wrong with this boy. How he is sweet and he's good with words. And how Todd really likes him. How one day this boy performs as Puck in a nearby production. Thinking about how squeamish Todd is while watching him all clad in green with a crown of sticks on his head. How Todd has to excuse himself to go and puke in the restroom. How he sits in the stall for the duration of the play. How it just isn't fair for the boy to be a memory of someone long passed. Thinking about the fact that however nice this boy may be, Todd needs to accept what, who he is chasing and how he will never be found.

i love the idea that charlie knew that something was going on between neil and todd, but hear me out, what if he didn't knew in the moment? what if he knew that there was something different between them, that they had a special friendship, but didn't exactly knew what made it special.

until 10 years later, while he's living in new york, something happens in a bar called stonewall, at the end of june. and suddenly the streets are filled with all the colors of the rainbow, and queer people demanding for the right to love and live. charlie walks down the street to his everyday job when he stumbles across one of those parades. at the start he pays no attention, until two young boys, no more than 18 years old each, catch their eye. they are holding hands and a rainbow flag covers their shoulders, but their eyes are what makes him freeze. they are filled with something... something that he hasn't seen in almost 10 years, that he last saw between an anxious poet and a now dead actor.

and then, in the middle of a crowded manhattan street, he realizes what made their "friendship" special. because in those two teenagers, in their eyes full of what he now knows it's love, he sees todd and neil again.
