summery: You split your lip sparring with Techno, and now you have to face your boyfriend, Dream.

You knew he was going to be upset. Even after he told you not to go, you didn’t listen and look at you now, with a split lip and a growing bruise on your bicep.

In hindsight, sparring with Tommy was a good idea. You needed the practise, and you wanted to gain a better insight on enemy lines. That was until Tommy and you ran into Technoblade and he really gave you a spar. It wasn’t like you weren’t good at PVP, in fact, you trained really hard and were quite good. It was just the fact Techno has spent more time actually sparring and training you so he knew all your moves and how you thought when PVPing.

Anyways, fighting a rage quitting 16 year old is nothing like fighting the blood god, and you should have knew that. It’s not like you didn’t go down without a fight, even getting more licks onto Techno than he did you, the cut above his eyebrow and his torso were proof of that. It’s just the fact that he didn’t have an overprotective boyfriend waiting at home for him, just like you did. Dream was going to be mad, and you all knew it.

When you approached the house you shared with Dream, you started to get nervous. You could see the outline of his figure sitting on the porch waiting for you, as he always did when he got home before you did. It was usually endearing and nice to come home to a kiss and hug. But not today. Dream stood up when he saw you walk near the house and took immediate notice of your healing busted lip. You could feel his eyes searching yours through the mask as he took your face into his hands and looked for more signs of blood.

“Who did this to you?” He asked as he gently rubbed a streak of blood away. His voice was tight and you could hear the anger being barely constrained.

“You should see the other guy” You joked, as you tried to lighten the mood. You grasped the hand near your lip, and he tensed at your response and movement.

“God, babe, you have to be more careful.”

“I didn’t mean to, I swear. Techno and I were just sparring. Injuries were bound to happen, Dream. I’m okay.”

“I thought you were with Tommy today.” He said as he lead you into the house.

“I was, and then we ran into Techno. Any practise is good practise right?” You shrugged.

Dream sighed and removed his mask once he shut the door behind you. He hung it up and met your eyes. You could see the small fire behind his green eyes he always got when he got protective and you looked away from the glaring.

“Look, I just wanted some practise, and George and Sapnap were busy. I just wanted to contribute to the war and help you fight.” You explained as you sat down in a chair at the dining table. You ran a hand through your hair, and exhale a shaky breath. Your anxiety was sky high, and Dream not saying anything was making you sweat. Dream crouched in front of you and put his hand on your knee.

“You don’t have to do that. I’ll always protect you.” He said gently as he tried to catch your eyes.

“God, Dream, you can’t always protect me! For once, I wanted to protect you too. You cannot always worry about me. You’re going to get hurt.”

Dream laughed and shook his head. “You act like you’re never on my mind.” He pulled you up as he stood. “Fine. If you want to advance your skills, i’ll teach you myself. They will never know what hit them.”

You smiled as your nerves started to shake off. “Seriously? You’ll spar with me?”

“Definitely. Just promise you don’t bust your lip again.”

“No promises.”

Dream brought you into an embrace and you relaxed your body and hugged him back. A overwhelming sense of calmness and security washed over you and your throat started to curl. You tighted your hold on him.

“Thank you Dream.”

“Anything for you, my love.”
