not a bad idea, i did roughly have in mind who would dream on which moon (prospitian jay/jessica, dersite tim/alex/brian) but hadn't put more thought into it than that.
okay in a hypothetical hornetsstuck au what would make more sense to differentiate brian/hoody and masky/tim?

homestuck fans i think need to accept that some characters are just bad people and you will feel far more liberated enjoying the characters whilst recognising that they fucking suck as opposed to jumping through several hoops to justify their behaviour
you can like somebody for being an interesting, well-written character without suddenly trying to explain why they're a good person
if any proshippers comment on this post you will be fucking boiled
i feel like when it comes to writing for homestuck characters it's always rose, kanaya, dirk & aranea i have the easiest time with. a lot of my writing tends to be unnecessarily verbose just as a byproduct of the way i speak but while that's usually one of my worst flaws it becomes a very clear strength when you're writing dialogue for characters whose excessive verbosity and purple prose is part of their characterisation. rings especially true for rose & mindfang i think. the only problem is when writing narration i start writing like a victorian diarist and then randomly drop 43 profanities in a row.
Honestly? My main piece of advice for writing well-rounded characters is to make them a little bit lame. No real living person is 100% cool and suave 100% of the time. Everyone's a little awkward sometimes, or gets too excited about something goofy, or has a silly fear, or laughs about stupid things. Being a bit of a loser is an incurable part of the human condition. Utilize that in your writing.
so fucking true
Look, as much as I love June having all these really nice and emotional coming out moments, I think she should be allowed to use her gender for comedy. She goes on HRT for like 5 months without telling anyone and shows up at the next hangout with her friends looking like a totally different person. She gaslights them into thinking that she was always a girl. Everyone starts panicking because this seems like peak timeline fuckery. Shit goes to the Earth-C equivalent of DEFCON 2 before she reveals the gag to everyone. The effects of her coming out are catastrophic. There are no survivors.
