This account is primarily for sharing videos and photos from regular people living in Gaza, but in this post I want to highlight what it is like for someone who has been able to leave.

Maram Alshurafa is a dental student from Palestine. In December, her family was able to send her to safety in Canada.

Despite being somewhere physically safer than Gaza, she is experiencing a new hardship feeling isolated and afraid for her family in Palestine.

Maram's Instagram caption written in Arabic and English. In English it reads "when i left Gaza to Canada my soul left my body! 💔 If they die now in Gaza once, I am dying out there a billion times. I miss my home, I miss my dream, I want my life back and I swear I won't complain anymore. I want my soul back 💔." Posted February 1, 2024.

maram's Go Fund Me description. It reads: "My name is Maram Alshurafa , I am collecting donations to help my family evacuate from Gaza. we have all lost our homes, businesses and real estate.

My family now live in tents and they suffer from the war, death is now is closer to them more than you think, you can see me and my brother in the photo, I saw the war, I lived it. I faced death more than one time, I was able to evacuate Gaza with difficulty and survived with only my clothes and nothing else, but my family still there, facing death and hunger every single day

I hesitated a lot to make this link , but there no other way. With your help I can let them out of Gaza and keep them away from death.

my beautiful family consists of 24 members (about 18 child).

I had to live my whole life with them, I feel guilty when I talk to them, as if I left them to die alone.

People in Gaza have been saying this would happen since the very start, as soon as the occupation started corralling everyone into the southern part of the strip they said this would happen. We watched it happen as the “safe” zones grew smaller and smaller and every time Rafah was targeted by air strikes even before this. And no one who could actually stop this lifted a finger. It’s been 129 days.
