fumikage could feel the heat build up in his face, thankful that his dark feathers covered up any hint of his embarrassment. he’s even more thankful that he’s perfected his stone face so the other could never know the truth.

he liked being called that, more than he imagined.

“i bet you can make cute tweets like other birds,” (name) smiled, resting his chin in his palms. “or would you be like a crow and bring be pretty things you find if i’m able to befriend you?”

the poor feathered teen wanted to hide in some dark closet, the heat in his face climbing with each word that came out of the other’s mouth. ok, so maybe he’s had a habit of collecting small shiny things and bringing them back to his parents and friends when he was younger but he didn’t like it being pointed out. his mom still likes to bring it up and tease him over it, showing the necklace he brought back to her once.

it was all just too embarrassing.

it isn't until they're stranded on that island that he figures it out.

he figures out why his gaze always lingers on you a little bit longer than people who are "just friends" normally would. why he thinks about your arms comfortably wrapped around his waist while the two of you watch a movie. why he fantasized about all of these romantic things ⸺ and why you're the other person in them. not teruhashi, like every one else. like he was before he met you. just you.
