a/n: i wrote this last august and forgot about it. self indulgent asf bc my period is a horror story 💢

“good game, guys. i’m gonna log out now.” putting his headphones aside, mingyu was greeted by complete silence in the house. it had been an hour since he left the bedroom to let you sleep in peace. the week of your period was always a hard time for you. hard is an understatement, really. he couldn't physically understand how you felt but the first time he saw you cry out in pain and struggle to walk yourself to the kitchen, he had decided to be there for you without you ever having to ask for his help; that’s the least he could do after all. the little widgets on his phone notify him of the approaching doom every month without fail, and one might even say he’s as prepared as you now (maybe more).

as he approaches the living room, his ears perk up. he opens the door carefully, and catches you wincing as you try to sit up. you look even worse than how he left you, somehow. sunken eyes and disheveled hair, there really wasn’t any way to romanticize this pain. “why didn’t you call me?”, he whispers and immediately springs into the practiced routine he’s got down. you're too far gone to protest as he props up your pillows, gets you a reheated hot water bottle and orders you to open your mouth as he makes you take your prescribed pain meds. regaining some consciousness after feeling the burn of the hot bag on your skin, you can’t help but smile at the concerned expression on his face as he assesses you. the way his brows furrow and a little pout appears on his soft lips soothes some of the ache in your body.

“what are you smiling at?”, he asks. “you’re just so cute like this. worrying about me and all.” the look he gives you is one of fondness. it’s somewhat relieving for your boyfriend to see you talk like this, despite the state you’re in. he could tell how disoriented you were by the way you hadn’t met his eyes the whole day. “who said i’m worried?”, he says cheekily, before disappearing into the kitchen again.

“i don’t feel good; i think i’m going to throw up”, you call out from your new resting place on the couch, chewing on scraps from the kitchen for lunch. mingyu had asked you to move to the couch (read: carried you) so he could change the sheets and clean up the room a little. it still felt embarrassing to have him take care of you like this, but his kind eyes and kinder hands made you go along with whatever he said.

thinking back, you had tried to avoid seeing him the first few months after you started dating, for this very reason. he knew you were having a hard time with your diagnosis, so he never wanted to push you too much; until the day you had woken up in a pool of blood with him next to you on your bed. you had sobbed endlessly (from frustration, pain, embarrassment) before threatening to poke his eye out with a butter knife if he ever made fun of you for this. this was all very bizarre to your new boyfriend, who grew progressively more concerned for you after that. had someone made you feel bad for something like this before?

a head pokes around the door with a determined expression you could read extremely well. another wave of nausea rocked over your body. “don’t come close to me, kim mingyu. i haven’t showered since yesterday. i stink.” “but you don't know what i’m going to s—” he tries to go on but you cut him off. “the sound of the air conditioner is making my skin crawl.” “but-” “the fabric of my tshirt is touching my skin in the worst ways and the birds won’t stop fucking chirping outside the window and you- you’re here seeing me like this. i want to dig a life sized hole and bury myself in it right now. just go away, please.”

he’s careful when he comes closer to you and stops right before sitting on the couch. “baby, i promise you, nothing about you can disgust me. unless you do something unforgivable like putting milk first in my cereal bowl”, he says, and you finally look at him. success. “and i’ll leave you alone, if that’s what you want. but can i get you something else for the pain or a hot drink first?”

how could you say no to him when he looked at you like that? with those big brown eyes, trying his best to read your face. freshly washed bangs falling into his eyes, and his pretty hand outstretched towards you. your eyes get distracted by his tongue coming out to wet his bottom lip, a nervous habit of his you found adorable. in the split second between his question and your response, you imagined pulling him by the shirt and kissing him breathless. swatting away the (welcome) visual in your head, you let yourself fall against the soft cushions, the fight leaving your body. it's time you let somebody love you.

jeonghan as a first time dad! ♡

jeonghan would be the type to plan when he has a baby, so when he found out you were pregnant he was more excited than shocked. he’d be the happiest man alive and he wouldn’t let you leave his sight for a second during your pregnancy

jeonghan would honestly be the type to tell everyone, like even the mailmain and strangers at the grocery store would know that you’re pregnant

he would feel pretty confident in his parenting abilities so he would rarely worry if he’ll be a good dad. he doesn’t really trust all the parenting articles and books so he decides that he’ll be fine if he wings it

jeonghan would admit that he’s pretty lazy when it comes to cravings. if you’re both tucked in bed for the night and you suddenly feel like ice cream, he’d probably pretend to be asleep (but eventually he’d drag himself to the fridge and back for you)

honestly jeonghan would be quite calm on the outside when you go into labour, because he wants to comfort you as much as possible, but on the inside his heart would be beating out of his chest

as soon as he lays his eyes on his little girl for the first time, he knows she has him wrapped around his finger. in his eyes, she’s the prettiest little baby in the world and when he first holds her he promises to protect her and make sure she’s happy forever

he thought he’d be more of a relaxed parent, but jeonghan can’t help but freak out at even the tiniest potential danger. the entire house is baby-proofed and he cannot even trust his members to hold her. jeonghan wouldn’t know what to do with himself if his daughter was ever hurt, so he has to have an eye on her at all times

he’s the best husband while you’re recovering. jeonghan makes sure that you don’t push yourself and that you get enough rest, and he manages to take care of your baby as well as all the household duties

jeonghan hates when she cries. he’ll manage to drag himself out or bed or drop whatever’s in his arms to rush to her, and as soon as her teary eyes meet her dad’s worried one’s, she’s immediately smiling again

he loves doing all of the games like ‘got your nose’ and ‘here comes the aeroplane’. his baby is easily impressed so he does everything he can to see a smile on her face

jeonghan takes so much pride in bringing her out in public. he just loves pushing her in her stroller, sunglasses on, coffee in hand, while everyone can’t help but stop and comment on how cute his baby is

although he adores spending time with his little girl, jeonghan’s favourite time of the day is nap time. as soon as his baby girl starts showing any signs of sleepiness, he’s rushing her to her crib and falling asleep in his own bed within the span of a minute

jeonghan will not rest until ‘dad’ is his daughter’s first word. you’ll walk into her room to say goodnight and find jeonghan bent over the crib repeating the word to her while his daughter only giggles back at her daddy

and when she finally does say it, jeonghan is the proudest dad alive. he’ll tease you 24/7 by making her repeat it again and again and he won’t even let you try to each her any other words for at least another week

jeonghan absolutely spoils his little girl. she gets anything she wants and more. her playroom is literally overflowing and you have to remind him that there’s no room left when he returns home one day with his hands full of toys

he wants to teach her as much as he can even when she’s still only little. he loves to read to her and take her to different places so that she can learn about the world around her

jeonghan doesn’t cry that much at each milestone, but when she reaches her first birthday the emotions overtake him. his members tease him for being so emotional all day, but he’s in disbelief that his baby is already a year old and it hits him that she’s grown up (even though she’s barely walking lol)

jeonghan is incredibly protective of his little girl. like if a kid snatches a toy from his daughter you have to physically hold jeonghan back from ripping it out of the other kids hands

he’s super worried about letting his members babysit. unless they can recite all of her allergies and nap times and bedtimes and favourite foods, he won’t even consider leaving her with any of them

as she grows up, jeonghan is super close with his daughter. he’s the ‘don’t tell your mother’ type of dad and he helps her get away with a lot of stuff. however jeonghan is still pretty good with discipline, because he thinks it’s super important for her to know right from wrong

but since she’s jeonghan’s daughter, she’s very smart and can be a little cheeky. even when he has to scold her a part of him is still quite proud of how much his daughter takes after him. it sometimes scares him when she is able to think of lies so easily (but her dad is yoon jeonghan so she’ll never get away with it)

jeonghan is incredibly supportive of his little girl. he fights with other parents for front row seats and becomes the head of the parent council so he can ensure she’s class president every year (the cheater in him will never rest)

jeonghan is the type to stay up with his daughter to help her do her homework, but also the type to just give up when it’s too hard and help her think of a lie to tell her teacher

overall, jeonghan really would be great dad who’s super protective of his little girl <3
