Can I get a kaboom?

It’s always kind of funny when the Powerpuff Girls, in fanart, are drawn with fingers and noses and toes and stuff and it’s like…they legit don’t have those in canon. It’s not just a style choice, they actually don’t have fingers and noses.

I mean, apparently Buttercup just sticks her hand to things to pick them up (S03E29 Criss Cross Crisis)

And in Oops, I Did it Again (s06E04B) the girls, when made without Chemical X, come out “normal” and do have fingers, feet, noses, and normal faces.

So like…when everyone in the show calls them “bug-eyed freaks,” “pumpkin heads,” etc, they legit mean the girls have big round heads, giant eyeballs, and stump limbs.

I think it’s safe to say that the Powerpuff Girls are objectively horrifying. I want to see fanart of that.

In my previous post, I talked about how yes– it is possible for the rogues of Townsville to be redeemed, if the IDW mini-series is considered canon. 

Similarly, I think it should be pointed out that within the same mini-series, the PowerPuff Girls call truce with the RowdyRuff Boys to deal with a bigger problem that they both want out of the picture.

There’s no telling what happened afterward, since the mini-series ends there. Part of me is humored by the idea that the RowdyRuffs spent weeks chasing the Boogie Man down.

I feel like it should be made known to everyone that the RRB have met the Boogie Man in the comics, and they completely roast his boomer tastes.

I completely understand your annoyance with the RRB x PPG shipping in this fandom. Like, yeah, I guess they could work in a complete AU where their characters are both aged up to teenagers-adults, and you pretend the characterizations, interactions, and events between them from the actual canon of the classic PPG cartoon never happened, but within canon-complaint and/or canon divergent scenarios of classic PPG, I really don’t understand where all the inspiration to pair up the PPG x RRB romantically in fanfic and fan-art comes from, aside from the fact that the RRB are the dark male counterparts of the girls. I don’t understand how a canon compliant and/or canon-divergent fic pairing the PPGs and RRBs would work out believably.

Granted, the classic PPG cartoon is a cartoon about three superpowered little girls made out of ingredients for cake, everything nice, and a made up chemical that gives people superpowers, fighting these really huge, scary, and dangerous monsters, adult criminals a mutant chimpanzee with genius level-human intellect, Satan, mutant green skinned teenage hoodlums, a spoiled brat, bratty evil little superpowered boys, and so on when they are not being normal little girls on the side in their free time at home and school, so there is an obvious suspension of disbelief required.

However, the Rowdyruff Boys are canonically the most underdeveloped and one-dimensional recurring villains on this show. Mojo, Him, The Gangreen Gang, and Princess are all far more entertaining, complex, and well-developed as villains. Besides, almost every interaction they have with the girls on the show is the boys picking a fight with them to try to destroy them, even nearly succeeding twice, and the girls having no choice but to fight them back to defend themselves. The one time they got along was in a brief non-canonical flash forward of all of them as teenagers in the “City of Clipsville,” and the girls got portrayed as being very uncharacteristically shallow, selfish, stupid, and unlikable stereotypical teenage girls who only cared about gossip, shopping, makeup, and boys at the mall, even though all of Townsville desperately needed to be saved.

I just don’t get why the RRBs are so intensely shipped with the PPGs in this fandom either. Yeah, I could see it working in AUs completely separate from the classic PPG canon where they are aged up to teens and adults, but within canon-compliant and canon-divergent scenarios, I don’t know where the all the inspiration for shipping characters romantically comes from when watching the classic cartoons. The best and most heartwarming relationships portrayed in the classic canon PPG cartoon were the familial, parental, and platonic ones between the girls with each other as sisters, and between Professor Utonium and the girls as their father and his daughters.

I mean what else can I say except... true! I definitely agree with your last sentence as well.

It literally only took Professor Utonium sugar, spice, and everything nice (plus an accidental dose of chemical X) to preform human transmuation, so I dunno why Ed Elric’s child prodigy ass couldn’t do it.

Original Blossom has a  crush on the lumberjack from DC comics Powerpuff  girls #17

Before the reboot Blossom has a crush obsessions on Jared (which is disgusting to original fans of the original series) The original Blossom has a crush on the Lumberjack (even bubbles ) from DC comics Powerpuff girls#17 and I have two pages  as proof .By the way, could you imagine if the reboot writers use this as a source material for future episodes since this issue doesn’t involve fighting crime but hear the bedtime story from the professor.

I appreciate ur blog bc there are a lot of blossom hate/under appreciation bc she’s the typical level headed nerd who is full of herself unlike her cool sisters who have unique personalities and flaws and both are quirky unlike blossom bc she’s the boring sister..she even mentioned it in the ppg movie once? Anyways blossom is my favorite and I never see any posts or content about her character and I appreciate u understand her n make some good analysis abt her sometimes i just wish there are other blogs that I can read abt blossom

(also okay I haven’t seen this in a while but I’m cringing at the “there’s no other female superheroes other than Wonder Woman” line because kgkdjcoshsicd okay now is not the time to unpack THAT 😩)

And thank you! It does pain me that she isn’t as popular as the other girls, and I think a big reason for that is that she’s just so misunderstood because of those kinds of stereotypical things (like nerd ≠ boring and all that). I just think she’s neat and a cool, nuanced character who I will absolutely defend from mischaracterization any chance I can get.

Sometimes Boomer from more than human legitimately scares me, for a lot of reasons, and one of them is that (this coming from a musician), the way he practices music is so foreign to me. He never has to continuously try and learn and ultimately that very human stress just isn’t there for him!!! and i cant even IMAGINE how someone could function like that.. he didn’t seem to care or work for anything until bubbles

Something I don't understand is how people complain about fakeout deaths in BSD, but the second its their favorite character they start chanting and begging asagiri to do another fakeout. It seems like they only actually care about it when it's characters they don't read into or care for, and it's kinda confusing to me

How do you give your fans what they want when the second you give it to them they complain about it nonstop for months
