Something I don't understand is how people complain about fakeout deaths in BSD, but the second its their favorite character they start chanting and begging asagiri to do another fakeout. It seems like they only actually care about it when it's characters they don't read into or care for, and it's kinda confusing to me

How do you give your fans what they want when the second you give it to them they complain about it nonstop for months

I completely understand your annoyance with the RRB x PPG shipping in this fandom. Like, yeah, I guess they could work in a complete AU where their characters are both aged up to teenagers-adults, and you pretend the characterizations, interactions, and events between them from the actual canon of the classic PPG cartoon never happened, but within canon-complaint and/or canon divergent scenarios of classic PPG, I really don’t understand where all the inspiration to pair up the PPG x RRB romantically in fanfic and fan-art comes from, aside from the fact that the RRB are the dark male counterparts of the girls. I don’t understand how a canon compliant and/or canon-divergent fic pairing the PPGs and RRBs would work out believably.

Granted, the classic PPG cartoon is a cartoon about three superpowered little girls made out of ingredients for cake, everything nice, and a made up chemical that gives people superpowers, fighting these really huge, scary, and dangerous monsters, adult criminals a mutant chimpanzee with genius level-human intellect, Satan, mutant green skinned teenage hoodlums, a spoiled brat, bratty evil little superpowered boys, and so on when they are not being normal little girls on the side in their free time at home and school, so there is an obvious suspension of disbelief required.

However, the Rowdyruff Boys are canonically the most underdeveloped and one-dimensional recurring villains on this show. Mojo, Him, The Gangreen Gang, and Princess are all far more entertaining, complex, and well-developed as villains. Besides, almost every interaction they have with the girls on the show is the boys picking a fight with them to try to destroy them, even nearly succeeding twice, and the girls having no choice but to fight them back to defend themselves. The one time they got along was in a brief non-canonical flash forward of all of them as teenagers in the “City of Clipsville,” and the girls got portrayed as being very uncharacteristically shallow, selfish, stupid, and unlikable stereotypical teenage girls who only cared about gossip, shopping, makeup, and boys at the mall, even though all of Townsville desperately needed to be saved.

I just don’t get why the RRBs are so intensely shipped with the PPGs in this fandom either. Yeah, I could see it working in AUs completely separate from the classic PPG canon where they are aged up to teens and adults, but within canon-compliant and canon-divergent scenarios, I don’t know where the all the inspiration for shipping characters romantically comes from when watching the classic cartoons. The best and most heartwarming relationships portrayed in the classic canon PPG cartoon were the familial, parental, and platonic ones between the girls with each other as sisters, and between Professor Utonium and the girls as their father and his daughters.

I mean what else can I say except... true! I definitely agree with your last sentence as well.
