Ahoy!

Today I made this, which is my first dip into 3d art, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I haven't had this much fun making something since I was like 10 building with Lego.

I didn't make art of my oc this time, because I wanted a little break from that (might make a little model of her eventually though), because this time I wanted something more chill and more important to me, so I made this, a *new* 3ds with animal crossing New leaf ready to play.

The new 3ds was my first ever console, and new leaf is one of my favorite games of all time, so it felt fitting for a nostalgia-based piece.

I worked on this for about like 14-15 hours, and I absolutely love the result!

Needless to say, I'll be making more low-poly.

I WAS RLLY HOPING I COULD GET THIS DONE FOR THE ACTUAL ANNIVERSARY BUT I RUSHED LAST YEARS SO BAD SO I DECIDED TO ACTUALLY TAKE MY TIME ON IT LOL……..i considered just redrawing my pride pieces from 2021 but i thought that was too boring!!!! i like how this turned out a lot more

Dude I’m getting worse at drawing noooooooooo i was looking at drawings from June 2024 and was like damn this looks good

I think I just need to experiment more and practice with references instead of forcing myself to draw with just the mind which ends up producing the same thing every time (I’m going in circles)

Can you talk about how yellow is treated differently (by the author) after she was revealed to be a girl? Because I think you’re recent point of how she went from being dense to being a shy and soft was very interesting.

Honestly I think Yellow is just a mashup of character traits that change from arc to arc. Gold is also a weird mix of traits, but at least he stays consistent while Yellow doesn't

Yellow starts off pretty similar to Red, though she's more serious (or is acting that way because Green told her to). They're both bold, socially dense, have the same sense of justice, and even have a similar creative battling style. But her personality changes once she's revealed to be a girl. By FRLG she's dropped the cowboy aesthetic completely, her social denseness has turned to shyness, and her brazenness is now an occasional I-fight-for-the-trees strength outburst. Going from a cowboy to a soft timid girl doesn't make much sense in the way that someone like Blue changes, where he grows as a person between arcs in a logical, engaging way despite not having a structured character arc. Was Yellow just pretending to be like Red in her debut and her real personality came out later, or did Kusaka start by making another Red before deciding to go in a different direction? Either way it's kind of a free for all on Yellow's traits, since you can pick whichever ones you want for your own version of Yellow because she doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you put it all together
