As Barbara Lead Her Into The Living Room Of The Little Trailer, Lyla Was Shocked. She Had Expected It
As Barbara lead her into the living room of the little trailer, Lyla was shocked. She had expected it to be completely empty, with the way that it had been described to her. But, she had a stove, and a fridge! That was more than she had thought she would have.
"There's also a bed in the bedroom, but I'm not sure if I would recommend sleeping on it. At least not until you change the mattress and the sheets. The frame should be fine. The last tenant was....not the best at keeping the place clean. I had to pour so much money into redoing the carpets and the bathroom tiles."
Lyla was barely listening to Barbara, as she began to feel excited about having a place to call home. She knew that she would need to find a job, and fast, but hopefully that wouldn't be very hard.
"Do you know of anywhere that is hiring?", Lyla asked the older lady curiously.
"Oh, everywhere downtown is hiring. There's shop after shop with help wanted signs in the window. I also know that Portsim is always looking for people, but I wouldn't venture too far into that city.", Barbara cautioned, which peeked Lyla's interest
"Why do you say that?", she asked, titling her head to the side to try and get a read on the lady. She only seemed to chuckle at Lyla's question, as if should be obvious to her why she should avoid the town.
"If you think the gang problem is bad here....go to Portsim alone.", Barbara said, shaking her head. "But, please, don't actually do that. I've lost a few of my tenants that way. They went away for the weekend and never came back. Really sad."
Lyla glanced back over towards the hallway, wanting to go and explore the rest of the trailer.
"I'll leave you to look around." Barbara says as she reached out to hand the key to Lyla. "I left my phone number on the business card on the fridge. If you need anything, let me know."
Unprompted, Lyla reached over to hug her. Barbara flinched, not expecting such a reaction from someone that was a perfect stranger to her. Still, she ended up gently patting the girl's back. Lyla had been through a lot, and she knew that what she probably needed right now was a hug - even if it came from a perfect stranger.
"Have a good night, dear.", Barbara said as she exited the trailer, and back out into the crisp October air, leaving Lyla alone to figure out what she was going to do next.

The first chapter of the first part is going to start posting today at 11 AM Eastern! I'm so excited to be sharing this with everyone :3
A Supernatural Coming of Age Drama taking place in the town of Millhaven. The #Portsim Save file belongs to @florwal. All lore involving the town and the people in it, besides my own creative liberties, my characters, and supernatural lore, belongs to them. This story will be rated R and will contain several adult themes; including but not limited to teen pregnancy, drug abuse, and sexual themes. I will do my best to tag trigger warnings as they come up to hopefully prevent hurting anyone with my story.
Lyla Frye's entire life changed when her mother, Delilah, passed away from a long fight against an autoimmune disease that left her confined to her bed for years. The seventeen year old girl lost her home, and without any real family to turn to, she was forced out onto the streets to fend for herself. Before she could be taken away into foster care, Lyla gathered all of the money she had, a little over 500 dollars, and made her way to the local trailer park in an attempt to find a place to call home.
What Lyla doesn't know, however, is that because of her mother's passing, things are about to get very strange for her. She never knew much about her father, as he had disappeared when she was only two years old, but his legacy had been something that had haunted her for her entire life. Being a Frye came with responsibilities that she had no clue about, and she was unprepared for the challenges that awaited her. Surprises await around every corner for the young girl, and just like the phases of the moon, she would learn that change is inevitable - whether you're prepared for it or not.
PART ONE:NEW MOON - COMING SOON
Author's Notes Below The Cut!
Hi there!
If you are still reading this I wanted to say thank you. Phases is a story idea I've had in my mind for years. I've always wanted to implement it into Simblr, but I am admittedly not the best at world building nor am I the best at designing houses/decorating in this game. Making characters/giving them backstories is what I'm best at, and I'm still working on improving that skill.
So, when I came across this save file the other day, I was so inspired. I spent hours going over all of the lore that @florwal had already added into this save file, and I was shocked at how well it had always fitted the idea I had for my character, Lyla, and her story, which I've always called Phases.
I've really struggled with sticking with something/being consistent on Simblr, and honestly I think it's because I just don't enjoy doing challenges. I try to turn everything into a story and sometimes the stories just don't fit with what the confines of the challenge allow. I also simply haven't had the time I wish I had.
I work a full time job that is very demanding, and I don't often have time for gaming. But in an attempt to get back into writing, something that I've been struggling with the last few years despite how much I love it, and to find some joy outside of my work, I've decided to focus on telling Lyla's story - a story I've always wanted to tell and just haven't had the courage to.
I can't wait to start sharing this story with you all. I don't have a set date on when this will start, but I'm hoping to start posting this in October, as this is the perfect season for this story. Thank you for reading and I look forward to sharing this story that is almost a decade in the making.
With Love,
Tiffers
The silence that came over the room after she spoke about her mother was deafening. It was almost as if Lyla had stolen the woman's breath away and she didn't know what to say in response. But, even mentioning what had happened aloud had created a tightening in her chest as the sadness started bubbling up to the surface again. She hated thinking about what had happened, and giving it a voice just made it even more real.
"Do you have a job? Can you pay rent?", the woman asked calmly, her features had softened since her confession, but she still seemed to be all business. Lyla couldn't really blame her. People had to make a living one way or another and her tragedy didn't stop the world from spinning - even though she had felt like it did.
"I....don't." She said, watching the woman's face quickly change. "But I will start looking. I'm sure I can find something. People need help all over this town.", Lyla said, reasonably, somehow finding a way to muster up a little bit of confidence.
There was another long stretch of silence, and then the woman let out a heavy sigh, and resumed her typing on her computer once more.
"Rent is 450 a month. It's due at the first of the month. You have a five day grace period, but anything after that is considered late. If you miss two payments in a row, you will be evicted. Do you understand?"
"Yes, ma'am.", Lyla said, trying to stop the tears that were brimming in the corners of her eyes. She felt such a wave of relief wash over her. She had found herself a home; and it hadn't taken that long at all. It felt like a blessing - like her momma was somehow still watching over her like she had her whole life.
"The first month I will wave the rent plus the usual moving in fees.", the woman said, as Lyla heard the sound of a printer going off in the background. "I know what it's like to be without a family."
"Thank you.", Lyla said, a small tear dripping down her face.
"Don't thank me yet, girl. You better find yourself a job. Are you still in school?", she asked as she pulled a piece of paper out of the printer and sat it down on the desk in front of her "Read over this and sign it."
"I just started my senior year.", Lyla replied as she looked over the document that was handed to her. It was a lease agreement. It seemed like pretty standard stuff, and Lyla didn't really see anything that concerned her. She hastily signed the document, handing it back to the woman, anxious to get her hands on the keys to her new home.
"Stay in school.", the woman said gruffly as she grabbed the piece of paper back and moved over to the copier. "Trust me. If you ever want to make something out of yourself, school should be your priority."
"Yes, ma'am." Lyla replied, remembering that she had promised her mother the exact same thing. She had dreams for herself - she wanted to open up her own little bakery and sell her treats to the world. She may not have needed an education for that dream, but she knew that it wouldn't have hurt anything.
"You can stop calling me, ma'am. My name is Barbara, but you can call me Barb.", she said, and Lyla saw the woman smile for the first time since she had entered the office as she turned back to Lyla and handed her a copy of the lease she had just signed. "Congratulations. You have a home."
Lyla stared down at that piece of paper as though it was going to disappear. She couldn't believe it was that easy. She knew that it probably should have been. Maybe the woman was taking pity on her, or maybe she just saw a way to make a quick buck. Either way, Lyla didn't have to worry about sleeping on the street that night, or any night after, and that was all that she cared about.
"I'm Lyla.", she said as she held out her hand. The woman didn't shake it, as she expected. Instead, she dropped a small key into the palm of her hand.
"You ready to see your place?", she asked, and Lyla nodded her head enthusiastically. "Follow me."

Does your sim need to get away from it all? Are they maybe trying to get over their failed marriage (like our main man here), or forget a relationship that shouldn't have happened? Maybe they're running from their tragic past, or seeking a cleansing experience to cure their raging alcoholism! Or maybe they just hecking love nature, or need a way to finish their frog collections in an organized environment. Whatever the reason, BACKPACKING ACROSS SIMNATION promises to bring together total strangers in rudimentary accommodations, where we all are forced to face the harsh yet freeing simplicity of camping.

After a trip to Komorebi with a few friends during your highschool you find that there is more to the world other than your hometown and thereâs more people to meet along the way. Letâs be honest: you had a pretty good upbringing. Even though there were some rough patches, you know that your parent did the best they could to raise you alone. But, deep down, being alone is the very thing you fear more than anything. So, you cover it up with work. You work 10x harder than anyone else in your family probably. But deep down you still crave stability and so as a desperate attempt to fill the emptiness that drives you, you marry a close friend only to find later that your spouse hasnât been faithful. Eventually, you break down and take things lightly with the help of your family. They teach you how to have a healthier outlet for your frustrations. Who knew flower arranging was so relaxing?

You determine from a young age that you will pour your soul into forging close relationships with your spouse and children. The city draws you, and it is there that you decide to make your home. However, despite your best efforts as an actress later in life, tragedy claims one of your children long before their time. You wear a shroud of sadness from then on, but find that the love of your remaining child(ren) and your ability to immerse yourself into your roles might just pull you through in the end.

Generation Six: âLiving with a broken heartâ
You lost a sibling at a very young age and witnessed your parentsâ grief while still trying to process it yourself. Rather than trying to pick up the pieces, you let the sadness consume you. And at the same time you have this whole 'This bloodline ends with me' thing going on because of what you've went through. At first you have been recruited to become a secret agent, but after finding out how corrupt the system is, you decide to screw it because if you canât beat âem, join âem! Am I right? Theft and criminal activity become appealing to you, and eventually you give yourself over to that lifestyle. Even though youâre more at home in your contemplative solitude, you take comfort with a woohoo buddy who eventually gets you pregnant/or you get pregnant. Generation Seven: âHere to make a differenceâ
There is only one word to describe your childhood: lonely. You knew from a young age that the parent you lived with took no pleasure in your company, and youâve always felt that you were the âmistakeâ that resulted from a careless decision. As a result, you pour effort into building relationships with those who truly care about you, and even attempt to mend relationships with those who donât. You have a core group of people who mean the world to you, and you spend as much time with them as you can. Becoming a teacher was an obvious choice, as it provides you with the tools you need to reach others. And while youâre a social creature by nature, you never turn down the opportunity to curl up with a good book.

Exploring the jungle is your passion and so is digging up old relics. You eventually create a store where you sell the things you have collected from your journey. Even though starting up your own business means you have to live with your parents longer than most of your friends, you donât mind because it means youâre close to the people you love. In fact, closeness and similar interests cause you to fall in love with someone who accompanies you during your trips to Selvadorada, and they donât mind that you canât yet afford a place of your own. In your âspare timeâ (hah!), you enjoy photographing places near and far, searching for that perfect shot. Between trying to run a successful shop and your photography hobby, youâre not able to spend as much time with your children as you like. But thatâs okay; youâre out there living your dreams.

Your grandparents are your closest friends while theyâre still alive. After all, they practically raised you. As a young adult, you desire the family you feel you never had and start a family quicklyâŚonly to find out that youâre married to someone you donât love as much as you should. You create a group with people who love the same things as you. The stars fascinates you, but more than anything you desire to find true love. So you find one in your club. You and your significant other would do anything just to discover the worlds unknown to simkind. It was your dream together. But when your significant other suddenly dies while tweaking with the rocket ship when you were young adults, you were devastated. You couldn't finish the rocket ship that you and your loved one had started. As you mourn, drinking becomes your method to quiet a broken heart and provide a false sense of peace.
