Young Royals' Omar Rudberg Breaks Down Simon and Wilhelm's Cliffhanger Ending

Omar Rudberg, who stars as Simon in Young Royals, discussed Season 3 Episode 5's ending and what it means for Simon and Wilhelm's relationsh

"Wille and Wille's family became really human for Simon," Rudberg said. "Before it was more, 'the Queen and the King.' Where now he goes to Wille's home for the first time and it becomes real — and he realizes this family is so broken." In that scene, Simon is torn between wanting to support Wille and wanting to protect his own heart. "He really wanted to be there for [Wille], but he just feels that whatever he's doing, he's not the one that is going to save Wille," the actor continued. "The only person that could save Wille is Wille himself."

Throughout this season, Simon has put in serious effort toward the relationship. "[He] was fighting against all of their issues and was trying to fix everything because he loves Wille, because he wants to be with him," Rudberg said. But after watching Wille express his true feelings to his parents, it became apparent to Simon that some things were out of his control. "I can only save myself for now and save my family. And you have to do the same thing," Rudberg explained, in character.

The actor continued. "Simon always says, I try to be there for him, but everything that I do makes it all worse," he said. "And this was definitely the last straw where he was like, get your sh-- together, man."

Rudberg said Simon was witnessing pain everywhere — and experiencing it himself. "Your family's hurting, you're hurting and that's hurting me and my family," the actor described of Simon's thoughts toward Wille. "That's why [Simon's] got to protect himself at the end of the day."

Rudberg also spoke about what this exchange means for his character. "Simon is a strong person where he prioritizes himself a lot," the actor said. "But I definitely think this was the first time he actually made a statement for himself, where he's like, I'm actually not okay. And I have to leave."

Did she really said she thought Wille's denial about the video would "fix" things for Simon? Like, after his FACE was on an actual MAGAZINE? And all over the Internet? IS SHE BEING FOR REAL?

You know, I could exuse and explain a lot of things. We all have a different perspective, that's fine, that's cool, but I'm sorry. This wasn't coming from a different perspective. It was pure stupidity. And, yes, it single-mindedly explained for me all the weird decisions of season three and all the plot holes that had been lingering since season one. That single thing about different perspective on karaoke scene showed that many fans have more brain cells than the people responsible for the story.

Also the thing about Maddie? I'm furious. And I was also right when I said 'it looks like The Message is that they will never change'. Such a bullshit. Thank you.

I don't know why would anyone decide that it's a good idea to shit talk other blogs in my asks after I said I'm freaking tired of this shit in the fandom. It's not, if I need to clarify. I made that post not to rant or start another round of hating people and clearly not to discuss who do you think good or bad. I intentionally avoid to clarify certain things because I wasn't trying to create more drama. I just wanted to share some feelings and maybe also warn everyone who followed me because of YR what I might step aside from it for a while. well I disagree with you cause henry cavill is still the best choice for geralt and it's even more weird to choose a different actor to play him. Also Liam is not that great an actor so I don't have much hope for the show now.

Have I said that Liam is a great actor? Or a good choice? Or something? Because I didn't, the only thing I was talking about is how people change their minds and begin to like what they used to criticize (sometimes hypocritically).

As for me, neither of them are good choises for Geralt. But as the whole series is not great at sticking with canon and simply don't have the vibe what made The Witcher special, I guess it's okay. Witcherflix has its own universe, and so it has its own version of Geralt. Casting decisions aren't the main problem of this show, imho.
