Do you think it was out of character for Gina to asked EJ to be her first kiss why or why not? I have seen some people say it was out of character for Gina to do that I am just curious what your opinion is.
the complete opposite, actually! it was such a great way to mark gina's character development. people need to be able to differentiate a character growing (therefore changing in some aspects) to something being out of character.
in her confession to ricky, gina made sure it was a very closed one. "i'm gonna say what i need to say and i'm gonna walk away with my head held high" (almost verbatim). she didn't give him much room to say anything, didn't make it so he would have to say anything (which was perfect for ricky and then backfired for both of them going forward as friends). when gina confirms to ashlyn she was "getting something she needed" that night, it was some sort of closure. she went into that confession expecting rejection, and that stings, so her way out was to make sure she didn't actually have to hear ricky say anything that would hurt even more.
gina posing her confession to ej as a question is her being as vulnerable as can be. she's no longer afraid of the guy she likes having a say in the moment, she's actually encouraging him to say something (or act upon it). the slight struggle before asking "can i kiss you?" is soooooooo good because there it is, that's hard for gina, it doesn't come that easy and she hasn't done things like this before, but she doesn't let her fears stop her and goes through with it. it's a cute detail that she has to look away when she asks that, just like ej when he asks her about the risotto date, but then confirms what she wants by asking the next question looking straight at him, just like ej when he says "for real this time" too.
not only does that confession speak volumes about gina's character development, it's yet another thing that shows us how these characters are a perfect fit and how their individual stories connect. i feel like every detail of their stories does that so that's an understatement, but... while gina confessing to ej by asking him a question means a bunch of things for her personally, it also means a lot for ej and it couldn't actually be more perfect. ej's journey is about not really knowing what he wants since he was told what he should want his entire life. what school to go, what person to be. gina first asks ej what he really wants in the couch scene and in that moment, it already feels like it's the first time anyone's ever asked ej that, and his reaction shows it. he says he doesn't know, 'cause he's never had to think about it, no one's ever actually cared to ask. that conversation with gina alone acts as a catalyst in ej's growth, leading him to realize that he may not know exactly what he wants, but he knows he doesn't want to go to duke without having earned it, so he later talks to his father about it. in second chance, ej sings "i thought i knew what i want" after feeling like his chances with gina were ruined. he finally knew something about his own desires and it had to do with gina, he doesn't know much about anything else but knows he wants to be with her. fast forward to gina confessing her feelings by asking him two questions. she's saying "this is what i want and if it's what you want too, tell me". she's once again letting ej know that what he wants matters, especially when it comes to the two of them. he gets to have a say in this, he gets to go after it because it's actually something he wants, and that's a feeling that's entirely new to ej but an insanely necessary one for his personal growth too.
I can’t put into words how much I love this cast
HEARTSTOPPER outtakes & bloopers
So I just noticed something with the 1.06 (fight on stage) and 2.10 (risotto date plans) Portwell parallel and I need to fangirl some more over them (what’s new?🙄🤣) 🤷🏽♀️

On National Streaming Day, Disney+ announced it ordered a fourth season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series—and the news comes just ahead of its third season premiere, streaming on July 27, 2022! Each of the eight episodes in the brand-new season will stream weekly on Wednesdays, exclusively on Disney+. The Disney Branded Television series, created and executive produced by Tim Federle, is inspired by the mega-popular, two-time Emmy® Award–winning High School Musical franchise.
“This series continues to deliver best-in-class drama, humor, and heart,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “Tim Federle’s vision and interpretation of this legacy IP keeps evolving season over season, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Wildcats next.”
Federle added, “This series has been an epic adventure from the start, and I’m beyond grateful that we get to keep making music, telling these stories, and showcasing these exceptional stars.”
The third season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is set at Camp Shallow Lake, a sleepaway camp in California. The Wildcats and their fellow campers are primed for an unforgettable summer ripe with romance, curfew-less nights, and a taste of the great outdoors. With a high-stakes production of Frozen on the horizon—not to mention a drama-filled “docu-series” of the production in the works—the Wildcats will try to show who is “best in snow” without leaving anyone out in the cold.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season three stars Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Sofia Wylie (Gina), Matt Cornett (E.J.), Julia Lester (Ashlyn), Dara Reneé (Kourtney), Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos), Saylor Bell Curda (Maddox), and Adrian Lyles (Jet). Also featured this season are recurring guest stars Aria Brooks (Alex), Liamani Segura (Emmy), and Ben Stillwell (Channing), as well as guest stars Corbin Bleu (himself), Meg Donnelly (Val), Jason Earles (Dewey Wood), Kate Reinders (Miss Jenn), Olivia Rose Keegan (Lily), Olivia Rodrigo (Nini), Larry Saperstein (Big Red), and Joe Serafini (Seb).
You ever just… yell about #the caswell cousins??
