i really like reset, bc i saw most of the major twists coming, but the reveals were still like a punch to the throat every time. it’s not always about having a twist that surprises you, inevitably if you leave good clues, people will figure it out. sometimes it’s just all about the execution of the reveal and sprinkling in another surprise reveal you couldn’t have seen coming from a mile away.

granted love like the galaxy was a romantic story circling ling buyi and cheng shaoshang I definitely think the arc between shaoshang and lou yao was needed and actually a little overlooked. he wasn’t written as an excess character to fuel the jealous nature of the lead, rather he was a big part of shaoshang’s growth. their relationship didn’t end badly per se, and she didn’t just all of a sudden realize her love for him was platonic and MORE than that shaoshang saw companionship in ah yao. she felt comfortable with him, and she liked being with him. even when he was a little meek, he stood up for himself because of shaoshang and he became a better man for her too. comfort is a form of love and shaoshang was more than fine marrying him for that reason, and neither of them ever wavered when they were together. people were pretty quick to dismiss their relationship once it ended, and continued to think of ah yao as her brother because they never had any intimate scenes but he was one of the first few people who truly cared for shaoshang. he helped her when she needed it the most and while her feelings for him may not have been mutual and reciprocated on equal wavelengths, she loved ah yao too. she worried for him, she wanted the best for him and fought for him. ultimately, I think what ah yao and shaoshang had was special and lot more intentional and integral to the foundation of the drama than a lot of second male lead/support character arcs.
