More Samuel + Rhys!!

“Samuel?” Rhys’s voice echoed through their small apartment. He waited for a moment before sighing. There weren’t many reasons that Samuel might now respond, and most of them weren’t good.

Rhys made his way through their living and dining area to enter the kitchen where, as expected he found his boyfriend passed out on the ground. Keeping to routine Rhys easily picks Samuel up, reluctantly noticing as he did that Samuel was lighter than he should’ve been. So he’d been starving himself again.

Around 15 minutes later Samuel began to regain consciousness and was unsurprised to find himself laying on his bed with Rhys looking worriedly at him.

“Again, Sam.” It wasn’t a question. Rhys just sounded tired and disappointed like he’d been expecting better. He probably had. Samuel couldn’t bring himself to meet his boyfriend’s eyes, they’d done this dance before and it almost always ended in a fight.

Samuel just watched as his boyfriend got up and left the room after not receiving a response, he had never wanted Rhys to see this side of his life. The side that stemmed from years of verbal abuse from Marina. The side that festered like an infected wound during college and still hadn’t healed. So when Rhys came back into the bedroom he found Samuel curled into a ball facing the wall. On the ground.

“Sam,” Rhys’s voice was soft, he knew as well as anyone the self deprecating thoughts running through Samuel’ head, “Get up please love,” that made Samuel’s head snap to look at Rhys his eyes full of tears as he took the apple Rhys held out to him.

All of this was normal to them. It shouldn’t have been. But is was.
