Children and teens are stressed and tired. Most adults don't get it because they don't remember what it was like coupled with the raging hormones of a growing human being. It's hard and tiring all the time.

You feel underappreciated and that no one notices how hard you work. Recognizing that is a wonderful thing and being able to see how someone's face lights up when their work has been recognized or they've been validated is truly a gift.

I reread every comment and every reblog all the time because knowing that someone out there loved my work and wanted to share it/add to it is truly amazing. They light up my day and I adore them.

Imagine them coming and getting all these gifts and trinkets from children and remembering every one (photographic memory).

At first the insults take the Guard aback, because where is this coming from?

They don’t realize it’s gotten bad until the mother of a child who’d gifted them a drawing screams insults at them. It sends the Trooper to tears, as that joyful child’s face was ruined with fear.

The kind people get fewer and farther between, but they remember them the best. Often, kindness is simply passing them by without issue, but those lucky enough meet someone who still believes they’re there for good, that they just want to help.

Those that are kind, become havens of safety and bring smiles to their faces.

Despite how things have gotten, all the Guard still treasure every gift and drawing that was given to them. Any blankets are kept clean, and sweaters are treated gently. Even if they were screamed at by those who gave them trinkets, the memories still keep them going onwards.

At the start of the war, after the battle of Geonosis, when the GAR was sectioned out across the galaxy alongside their jedi generals (if they were assigned to one) the Coruscant guard was welcomed with open arms.

Marshal Commander Fox alongside his fellow commanders were very renowned, idolized even. People were so welcoming, friendly, and inspired by their local clone trooper brigade. A shock trooper couldn’t go anywhere on patrol without a friendly smile being sent there way, or a box of thankful treats being pushed into their arms. (Really, it was almost a problem at first when it came to actually doing there jobs. Luckily, at the idea of the recent local army moving in, crime wasn’t at its most prominent.)

They were given gifts in the form of cards and presents and drawings, some from little kids inspired by these “tough and valiant soldiers” and others from older artistic students.

Their job wasn’t simple and it was hard knowing they had it so “easy” compared to their brothers on the frontline, but it was worth it… at first.

The opinion of Clones nowadays hasn’t been thoughtful. Kicked out of certain businesses, preyed on, insulted… Commander Fox’s house rules have been drilled into every single shiny who had the unfortunate fate of coming to Coruscant and it’s when they learn why, that they’re no longer a shiny.

Been despite all that, knowing that it’s not every household and Senator and business owner that has a fight to pick. They still have a board, set up in the hallway between the barracks and the medical bay, that’s strewn with the sketches and drawing and cards they received during their welcomed service to remind them of that.

People think it makes you crazy but it makes Fox sane. The clones at evidence storage supply him in return for essentially no actual policing of what they do with any evidence. (That fur coat was ice and the base was cold! Warned them up. And that dress was pretty! And they wanted to try spice to)

All the guard know Fox does it but none of them care enough as long as he is safe about it. Everyone tried it once but Fox just naps and actually gets shit done

a hc i have is where Coruscant is still not a very good posting, but the Guardsmen try to make it as enjoyable as possible for the visiting troopers. they scout out good party/relaxation/dining spots for clones, they personally get supplies that troopers normally would never have (usually small things like nail polish, high quality shaving cream, a music box, etc.), and they just like to improve life on the planet in general for themselves and by extension the other troopers, which can add another reason for Fox and his commanders to be so busy & secretive so often (especially if you want to make the ways they make this possible very angsty and/or complicated) and another chance to make all the clones more connected despite their differing views/experiences.
