I feel as tho everyone always talks bout the tropes that span multiple fandoms and never the ones the reoccur in the same pairing. Those are the tropes that tend to be kinda repetitive; although you can find some really unique ones in there

🔥 fanfic tropes

I love them. They’re amazing and everything. Even the ones that I personally hate, it’s so great to see people agree on one specific setting/idea and see how they can fit it into their fandom/pairing.

The interesting thing I think it proves is the laziness of some published book tropes. I can read a thousand fics all with the same “and there was one-bed” trope and I walk away from it feeling like I read a thousand different and unique stories. But I read a few YA novels and feel like I’ve read the same story over and over again. People let their creativity absolutely soar with fanfiction. 

I’m never afraid of reading a fanfic that centers around a specific trope because I know I’m reading that specific person’s take on the trope. I’ve yet to grow stale to a trope just because I read too much of it. 

Fanfiction is so insanely creative with the things writers come up with and how they reimagine even the most simple premises. And I think it’s fucking great.
