Hiii I'm gonna ramble:

I'm absolutely sad that Winry is all alone in 03/CoS but not in a romantic sense. I'm absolutely devastated bc she no longer has Ed (her best friend and I personally see them as sibling relationship) and Al (again, same as Ed. Yes I'm including Al in this conversation bc he is ALSO Winry's best friend and im not gonna let people forget.).

But the thing is, she accepts that they're gone for good, even though it clearly pains her - she knows to not dwell on the past and move forward with what she does have! I think that's something she definitely learned from them, their mistakes most notably as well as from her own losses (like her parents.).

And another thing to realize is that she didn't have them around for years already. Yes, she grew up with them, but once Ed went to be a dog of the military, it took her 3 years (I think, could be wrong.) before she saw either brother again. On top of that, she already had her grieving period for Ed when everyone thought he had died to bring back Al. She already had her grieving period over Al when he almost IMMEDIATELY left to go train under Izumi again.

Although it ABSOLUTELY makes me sad for her, Winry is a strong, independent woman (woman by the time CoS hits, but she's a child for most of the series like Ed and Al. I feel like I needed to say that.) and she'll be able to live without her friends.

And THAT is what I love about Winry's character. That she adapts and overcomes, even if it does make her sad - another thing to point out is that, unlike Ed and Al, she's not dependent on either of them (while Ed and Al are HIGHLY dependant on each other, because they grew up believing that they only HAD each other.)

This being said I do think Winry is sad over Ed and Al (MAY I REPEAT, AND AL!!!!) leaving her behind, but as I said previously I don't think she'd be that holed up over it so to speak.

I love OP's point, and what they said bc it's true to some fans. I just felt like talking about how I feel:) (I'm sorry if the words are scattered or make little sense, I'm multitasking and just felt like spewing.)

love how some fma fans treat winry like a girlboss but then they see fma 03/cos and they whine that winry was all alone.

like some of you just reduce winry to ed's wife/gf and it shows

after they figure out the connection between Ed and Al’s bodies, whenever someone pokes fun of how much he eats, Ed will angrily insist that he’s eating for two. literally no one aside from Winry and Al ever knows what he’s talking about.

You can’t just cherrypick the bits of 03 you like, attribute them to BH and then pretend like 03 doesn’t exist. It really bugs me when people do that.  Like when BH die-hard fans draw Envy with GReen hair and then when you commend their art and inquire if it’s 03 Envy, they don’t even respond??? Like wtf? Tbh that fucking annoys me. most act like 03 doesn’t exist and will completely ignore you if you bring it up. Or when Brotherhood lovers/03 haters will use 03 screen caps like they belong to Brotherhood. I’m just like “Bitch, you wouldn’t have those great screencaps if it weren’t for the 03 series existing, so you can show a little appreciation, you fucking hypocrite.”

Ed will genuinely do anything for Al, and somewhat vice versa. (Al would do anything for Ed, but he'd be much less able to kill a human for him - the two did rationalize killing homunculi though, with Ed coming to terms that the homunculi were just as much people as he was and idk about Al)

They're just, the brothers ever.
