hi hi! i was heavily inspired by the-coldest-goodbye (on tumblr) and their nsfw/sfw alphabet prompt list, so i decided to make one for character headcanons! feel free to use this list in any way you see fit, and feel free to tag me, bc i wanna see what y'all create :D

A = Affection (How used to affection are they? How do they react to it? How do they show affection?)

B = Beautiful (What do they find beautiful within their life? Or is there a lack of beauty in their mind?)

C = Comfort (How do they like to be comforted? How do they comfort others close to them?)

D = Desire (What is something they really want? What are their hopes for the future?)

E = Education (Who and/or where did they learn most of what they know today? Did they go to school, have a mentor, etc.?)

F = Fears (What are their greatest fears? Where do these fears come from, if anything?)

G = Gratitude (What things in their life are they thankful for?)

H = Home (What location, feeling, or person(s) do they consider their home? How has this changed over the course of their life?)

O = Open (How open are they about their feelings to others? How long did it take them to open up, if at all?)

P = Patience (How patient are they? How quick are they to anger?)

Q = Quirks (What are little things they do that only those closest to them would know about?)

R = Resentment (Who or what do they hate? Why?)

S = Style (What is their sense of style when it comes to clothing? How about home decoration?)

T = Talk (How do they communicate with others? Is their voice loud or quiet? Do they have a large vocabulary?)

U = Unity (How do they feel about teamwork? What is their role within a team setting?)

V = Valuable (What are their most valuable items? Where did they get them from? Why are they so important?)

W = Wild Card (A random headcanon about them!)

X = X-Ray (What do they look like without clothing? What is their body type? How much muscle do they have?)

Y = Young (What were they like as a child? What was their childhood like for them?)

Z = Zooted (Do they partake in alcohol or drugs? If so, why?)

fandom hates characters of colour having their own narrative, having their own character arc and development.

fandom hates it when poc are the heroes for once, and don’t fit into any stereotype, or any racist trope. 

fandom hates scott mccall, princess tiana, skye and melinda may whilst simultaneously raising their white friend to levels of adoration and constant celebration. see: stiles stilinski, charlotte la bouff and jemma simmons. 

fandom always find an moc, most of the time, black men, to be suspicious of. see: alan deaton, sam wilson, nick fury, antoine triplett. and these are just a few of the countless others. 

fandom hates it when woc are paired up with white men on anything. ‘why can’t they just be friends?’ ‘she’s a strong female character, why does she need a relationship?’ they all say without realising that woc are severely underrepresented and we are rarely cast as lead roles. see: abbie mills, mako mori, reboot!uhura, gwen from merlin and joan watson. we need to note that most of the time this occurs exclusively to black women. fandom stamps a ‘brotp’ label on their forehead and desexualises them. 

fandom makes countless photosets ‘celebrating female characters’ but all of these characters are white.

fandom loves m/m slash but don’t give a shit about it if it involves moc. for them, it is exclusively for cishet white guys. see: more fics for ‘stony’ than tony/rhodey despite the fact that rhodey and tony have known each other longer, have a close connection and are best friends.

Miku turning 17 today? Dayum, we got only 6 days of difference!

Remembered that tumblr exists so I can say HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKU!!!

SHES 17 NOW!! Wow!! Her age in creation date has officially surpassed her character age, that’s crazy to me. I think it’s no secret how much I love miku, but here’s a love letter type ramble about her:

Miku, and vocaloid as a whole, is such an amazing and important part of my life, and the concept alone is so beautiful to me. She quite literally gives a voice to artists and creators, and she channels all the thoughts and feelings and art out to the world. Sure, she’s synthetically made and sounds robotic, but at the same time, that just makes everything including her feel more genuine. No one would choose to make art with something that seems so weird to outsiders. Only someone who shares a passion for either miku, or vocaloid, or just music, would sit down and use her in a song. Only someone who genuinely cares about their craft would take the time to tune every individual note to convey their emotions.

Another thing I really like about miku and vocaloid is how it more literally unites people. Sure, there’s the more overall thing of channeling feelings that I just talked about, but the amount of angles you can participate in the community from is amazing and makes it so easy to meet others and help each other make something awesome. You can be a musician who maybe needs help tuning. You can be a musician who wants a cool 2D music video or cover art, so you find an artist and work together. You can be an animator in MMD who finds assists made by modelers, etc. because there’s so so many different skills you can use to make something related to miku or vocaloid, it’s very often required that you collaborate with others if you’re making something ambitious. Magical mirai and miku expo and all the other live vocaloid events are a great example of this too. I already love live music and performances because of how incredibly human it feels, and how many people had their hands on the project to help it come together, and it’s just strengthened in live vocaloid stuff because there’s so many extra steps.

Miku may just be a blank canvas. She may just be an instrument ready to assist, but she represents art and she looks kind. Happy birthday miku!!❤️
