There's a very specific age range where I forgive screaming children on planes and it cuts off when a kid is given an iPad

This guy in the passport line kept bending down to tie his shoe every time there was a pause and it took him six tries to finish like dude we're not going anywhere important yet just wait five seconds

I feel called out hehe
so I got into grad school today with my shitty 2.8 gpa and the moral of the story is reblog those good luck posts for the love of god
Hey, happy storyteller Saturday! If your characters had to keep one important/personal memento from their childhood, what would it be?
hiii and happy STS to you too!
———
Think I’ll use the characters from Interwoven for this—also I quite like the interview-ish format so we’re doing that:
~~~
“If you had to keep one personal memento from your childhood, what would it be?”
Kaiden:
“I’ve got this.” *motions to the worn blue cloak she’s wearing*
Felix:
“Eh, don’t really do sentiments. Probably the cool little knife my old man got me when I turned… 12?”
Li Hua:
“Oh! I had this little alchemist’s set—it was the highlight of my childhood. Probably not very useful now, but I still think it was awesome! Though I’m not sure where I could put it…”
Aleksi:
“…I’m not sure.” *turns away and says nothing more*
Mehri:
“I have this!” *holds up a pendant*
Noha:
“… the little green blanket.” *straight up leaves*
Harper:
“…Well I didn’t have much, to be fair. Probably a… teddy? Or something? Whatever.” *he looks annoyed and says nothing else. very unlike him.*
Evangeline:
“I had an old sketchbook, I suppose I’d like to have it back.”
~~~ a lot of my characters have old things that they still carry on their person, it’s a theme I’m noticing. Like Harper still wears an old (now fitting) coat, and Aleksi still has old beads that he puts in his hair.

aaaaand that’s gotten quite long I think it’ll just be those!
thanks for the ask, @cc-writes-stuff ! ✨

Y'all I actually wrote some more of this outline! Finally onto the final part which means I need to settle whether or not I want this story to be a tragedy
ADHD pro tip: Use psychological warfare on yourself.
For example, in order to do long tasks, like folding laundry, I put on the Mario Hat:

The main feature of the Mario hat is that my headset does not fit over it, so when The Bees™ try to put me back in front of the screen, the headset issue forces me to remember why I put the Mario hat on, and back to the task I go
As a bonus, the Mario hat is also a very clear indicator to my housemates that business is getting done, and they have learned not to distract me when I'm wearing the "goofy-ass cosplay hat"
It's not stupid if it works.
Wdym that I shouldn't stress out? That's basically asking me to not exist
Remember, don't go on a trip with an extrovert unless you're willing to talk with them 24/7.
please please please let me get what i want september
“Simplicity and sincerity generally go hand in hand, as both proceed from a love of truth.”
— Mary Wollstonecraft, “Preface”, The Female Reader
I love seeing drama unfold in a different language cause I may not be able to understand what you're saying but oh boy can I read body language.

Happy STS. Do you have any specific writing tools or software that you use?
I do! I use Final Draft as a screenwriter which I was gifted a few years ago. It's pretty expensive though, so I normally don't recommend it unless you're serious about being a scriptwriter.
When I brainstorm anything, I write it out in a notebook. This is pretty new actually since I cannot read my handwriting 90% of the time but I find that ideas just flow better when it's a pen versus on a computer.
Once I've written my outlines and brainstorms multiple times, I'll type them all out on a Google doc. This is supposed to be a finished outline - hahahahaha
I also use Discord to keep links, random ideas, and any parts of my writing I want to keep, but cut from that particular work.
I've started looking at novel/prose sites for when I start actually writing this novel and I do enjoy Ellipsus.

I think writers need to know that there is no format for success. If a story is good let it be good. Throw that betrayal in there, have three climaxes, do that cliffhanger, kill off your most important character, make the main character's life a lie, and leave them grasping at straws for the truth.
Stop overthinking in trying to please others and yourself. There's an incredibly thrilling freedom when you don't worry about over-saturating a story. Make. It. Yours.
The most influential writers in fantasy, adventure, etc. never bowed to the wishes of those who they thought they should please. They wrote what they wanted and came up with incredible stories to share with the world. Not because they craved approval but because they genuinely were proud of that work and wanted others to experience the same emotions and thrill of reading they had while writing.
If you have writer's block, it is my firm belief that you are thinking too much. You have the layout, you have the ideas. Stop. Second-guessing. Yourself. You've got more to offer than you know. Let yourself thrive and live, not just survive in the writing world. Write any and every idea and build off of them to create a story no one has heard before. Create something you've only seen in your dreams.
Yes, you can take inspiration from every story you've heard, read, or seen before, yes, you can use AI to research topics you have no idea about to make your story even better. But no, you cannot quit.
You are on the very cusp of it, can't you feel it? You've got it, believe it, *feel* it. Only you can do this, only you can truly finish this in the way that you want and dream of. Do it. Complete it. Without any regard for what might be right or wrong.
WHY DO I INSIST ON WRITING IN ORDER WHEN MY BRAIN JUST LEAPS STRAIGHT TO THE CLIMAX LIKE ??? HELLO? WE’RE STILL ON CHAPTER TWO!!! ???
It's somehow Friday which means a nice little summary of what I did for writing, courtesy of the Creators Club (run by @bardic-tales).
Nothing.
Okay, that was technically a lie. I did open the notebook to finish outlining section 6 of this novel I'm attempting to write, but after a week of not looking at it due to travel and sickness I've forgotten what the hell is happening.
May have to go back and rewrite the first 5 parts to make sure all the plot points are building to the proper conclusions.
Or I just wing it. Haven't decided yet. So I did do something in the philosophical sense.
Creators Club: Friday Roundup
✨Good day!✨
For this Friday of Creators Club (hosted by @bardic-tales ) I’m gonna share what I did this week in regards to Writing! Things!
it got a tad long so you know the drill! Under the cut!
———
Actual Writing:
Uh… hahah… not really? I wrote a very little amount this week I’ve been focused on school and worldbuilding for when I wasn’t at school
so to the next one!
Worldbuilding:
Started making a map! I still need to figure out how to make it accurate, but the thoughts are there!
Worked on some world building posts surrounding the area my stories take place in
New Characters?
No…
Building on Existsing Characters?
Yes!
Ive been working on the Main gang’s dynamics and such
Ive also started working on a Villain … eheheh
ive built on the Fifth Order and I’m really liking this one guy called Nero idk why he’s funny
hes not even that important
Anything Else?
I’ve decided that I want my main WIP to be called… 🥁 Interwoven!
I’ll start referring to it as that but I’m still going to tag it as sea’s story 1
also I spruced up my intro! It needed the makeover frfr ✨
What I want to Achieve:
I need to figure out whether or not I want Felix to Live
also how to introduce Juno and Mael to the story
and I think that concludes it! May or may not have written too much but oh well !

Remember that there is no such thing as perfection. Almost all writers hate what they're doing at some point. And even that writer who you look up to has ,and will struggle again, with their writing. You are not alone.
Ty! It just sucks cause ofc I get brain fog when I'm not sick but then to get it when I am sick feels like a double whammy
You'd think that being sick and taking a moment to slow down would allow you to write more but my brain got foggy and said zzzzz so now I'm behind on my outline.
