Dereks fangs slid down and he bit into Stiles’ wrist. Locking his fate in with an ancient magic that defied all logical reasoning. The bite is a gift, it has the ability to heal, to bring someone back from the brink of death and yet, it doesn’t always work. He held onto Stiles like if his own life depended on his body accepting the bite. In many ways it did. How could his life go on without his anchor, his love, and his reason for fucking living? Why did he wait so damn long?!?

“Please pull through for me, baby. I can’t, WON’T do this without you. I love you.” Derek repeated this over and over for what seemed like days. Hours went by and there was no change in Stiles’ off grey color skin. He wailed as if he was reliving the fire, the losses of all his family members, the loss of his innocence, and now the loss of his reason for being. As he cradled Stiles against his chest and felt like it was time to let go of his own life as well, he heard it. The thudding of a heart. His heart that resided in Stiles’s chest. Before he could turn him he felt his cheek being held by slender fingers. Soft, warm, and ALIVE!

“Hey my Sourwolf, you weren’t planning on leaving me were you?” He broke and frantically kissed his boy. The kiss was laced with that ancient magic. It cemented their bond in a transcendent way. He FINALLY understood what truly living with purpose meant. He knew then that he’d never take a single moment with this amazing man for granted. “My beloved. Marry me? Please?” Stiles cried and pulled his face so their lips were touching. With a conviction he’d never heard before, he whispered, “a thousand times yes.”
