Since You Had The Good Grace To Reblog My Post With Another Example (thanks, By The Way!), I Will Now
Since you had the good grace to reblog my post with another example (thanks, by the way!), I will now return the service by reblogging your post.
As a huge music fan, there's one part about the 1998 Godzilla movie that feels even more bonkers to me than any of the choices in the film itself. So the soundtrack to that movie had some good songs, but the big radio single for it was "Come with Me" by Puff Daddy featuring Jimmy Page.
So here, they had this big single for the Godzilla soundtrack, and it sampled a classic rock song from the 1970s... but the song they sampled was "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin? Huh??
Now, I love me some "Kashmir," but what the heck does it have to do with Godzilla? The movie doesn't have an eastern vibe to it (ironically enough), and it's not set in the desert or India or anything. If Diddy was going to sample a classic rock song from the '70s... I mean, "Godzilla" by Blue Öyster Cult is literally right there.
I dunno. Out of all the bizarre baffling choices in that movie, this one doesn't get talked about enough. I gotta wonder if Diddy wrote the song separately and it wasn't intended for the movie, because none of the lyrics reference the movie either. Just something that was on my mind.
Last night I watched Roland Emmerich's bastardization of Godzilla.
It really can't be overstated how far Matthew Broderick had fallen from his 80s heights. And Harry Shearer didn't even bother hiding his Simpsons heritage.
And Godzilla looks nothing like Godzilla. He looks like some rejected Jurassic Park dinosaur.
And the Japanese play virtually no role outside the beginning where Godzilla attacks a fishing boat.
Americanization at its absolute worst.

Update on my next video
Hey, guys. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm gonna get my next review out by Christmas.
I'd finished the script early this month and scheduled out my time in a way that I figured would allow me to complete it on time, but unfortunately I fell very sick after I did the primary filming, so I'm only now managing to complete the voiceover narration. (This development is unfortunate since it is a Christmas-themed review.)
I'll try to finish the video before New Year's at least!

To quote one of my favorite Rush songs:
"If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."
Anyway, vote, dammit. And enjoy the tunes while you're at it.
You know I used to think "tumblr's absolute refusal to actually engage with the Trolley Problem in favor of insisting that there must be a third, morally pure option that doesn't require them to make a hard decision and anyone who asks them to make a binary choice is just a short-sighted idiot is really fucking annoying, but I guess it's not actually doing any harm".
Anyway that was before we asked tumblr at large to decide between "guy aiding a genocide but making progress elsewhere" and "guy who would actively and enthusiastically participate in a genocide and would also make everything else much, much worse for everyone elsewhere" and the response was that there must be a third, morally pure option that doesn't require them to make a hard decision and that anyone who asks them to make a binary choice is a short-sighted idiot.
Is this anything?
I had never heard of this James Somerton guy before Hbomberguy and Todd both made their videos, but from people I've talked to this sounds like #ChangeTheChannel for gay people.
Like, a popular YouTuber with tons of fans has been revealed to be a lying, thieving piece of crap, leading to his platform being destabilized and his entire fandom falling into disarray after the reveal? My sympathies, I know how that feels.
Obligatory:
you know what dad? maybe i don't wanna be the saviour of the broken, the beaten and the damned. it's a lot of pressure to put on me and honestly i've been feeling stressed recently because of it
