The Hunger Games Fandom(myself Included) Often Sees Finnick Odair As Someone Who Has A Good Heart, even

The Hunger Games fandom(myself included) often sees Finnick Odair as someone who has a good heart, even with all he suffered, aside from PTSD and stuff. However,he obviously has a dark, ruthless side. Finnick was the guy who won his Hunger Games when he was fourteen, before being forced into prostitution. His demand for secrets from his “clients” was a good example. I always had this headcanon that Finnick used the secrets as a revenge and leverage, much before “The Mockingjay”. For me,this makes Finnick a really well-round character, and another thing that makes him a survivor.

i would write essays and shit about how arguably the second most important theme in the hunger games after our society’s treatment of war was its indictment of pedophilia apologism in our culture at large but especially in our media. if any of you even cared enough to listen which is kind of the point.
one of my favourite scenes in the hunger games series is when katniss and peeta are visiting district 11. because it's the first time we really see rebellion, and unity between the districts on a larger scale. katniss sang to rue, tresh spared her life, and their district sent katniss bread. but here, it's months after the games, and a whole crowd is doing a salute from another district. and they are saluting the girl who lived because their own died. and when they kill the man who started it, it really sinks in the realization how important unity and alliance is. the people of panem are separated into districts and pitted against each other every year, to make it easier to control people. to take away their power. this is one of the first steps in panem regaining that power; realizing the other districts aren't the enemy, but their allies. and the capitol hates that, they know that a simple melody and salute is so much more than that, it's a warning and a threat.

like people rightfully criticise the hunger games films but one of the things they did so right was how they did rue’s death scene and the aftermath of it
katniss covering her up in flowers rather than just leaving her there and then doing the 3 finger salute towards the camera and the cut to rue’s district where we see all of the people doing it back and then they start rioting bc of how angry and disgusted they were at what happened to that little girl 💔
they did well at showing how that her death was when things really started to change and capturing the emotion of it
