Yall we have to talk about the immediate contrast in season 1 vs. Season 2 on the topic of Vampires.

Now I’m on episode 4 S2 rn (pretty early in the season) but, omg, the “Bloodlust” episode has me contemplating some things.

Mainly the difference between season 1 vs. season 2 when it comes to the treatment and depiction of vampires. In season 1 we see how demonized vampires are, they are creatures of pure evil. When you kill them you shouldn’t even bat an eye, that sort of thing right?

Now in e2 s2, we start to see that, no, not all vampires are like that. With time they have learned to evolve past killing and drinking the blood of humans, even at their own discomfort. Even so, just because they are vampires, no matter whether or not they have done anything wrong they are at the risk of or will be killed, mercilessly at that, by hunters. So much so, that the entirety of the species is almost extinct.

Now during the episode Lenore (the female vampire) while talking to Sam explains that she and the rest of the vampires in town do their best to be peaceful and stay hidden.

She then tells him to convince the others to not track them, because in her words “ i know your kind”, “ Once you have the scent, you’ll keep tracking us. It doesn’t matter where we go, hunters will find us.”

Now this line made me think back to season one ep20. John says something similar about vampires along the lines of “once they have your scent it’s for life.”

This, is when the switch became much clearer. Suddenly, the position between vampires and Hunters had flipped. Now instead of Vampires being the evil merciless killers. It was hunters who were going after them for no reason except the fact that they were just vampires, whether or not they had done any harm. Vampires had learned to adapt and evolve with the times, but Hunters remained the same, refusing to see past the world and indoctrination they’ve been taught.

Vampires were learning but Hunters (Humanity) were still staying the same, refusing to acknowledge a change or even think twice about killing vampires.

This entire contrast was so unique to me because it gives an inside look at the dynamics between Hunters and the Supernatural. It makes me wonder, same as Dean,……how many innocents were killed simply because of the fact they were different and therefore feared? 🤔

(This definitely was a commentary on society and us Humans in general. I would love to go into detail even more but my brain is fried😔)

My Friend Saying This:

*Cuts to me waving around a chewed up Pooh Bear toy, wearing a pink sparkly tutu, half my head covered in silly string, and my entire face covered in rainbow icing made from unicorn poop, desperately trying to fend off the demons I accidentally summoned by reading an incantation scribbled on a public bathroom wall in “red sharpie”- *

Make sure you say "I wonder what they're doing right now..." about your comic relief friends every now and then so the episode can cut to their B plot
