OC-tober Day 30: Kisser falling asleep
Recently, I’ve been working on a Star Wars fic with a higher than usual number of OCs. The fic isn’t posted yet, but I thought I might put a few of these out there.
The original post is here by @icannotreadcursive.
Day 1
~+~
RT-1010 stared at the ceiling. Tomorrow, his whole batch was shipping out. Despite their training, most of them weren’t going to be in the same battalion. He, Melt, and Cackle would be filling a small gap of non-specialized troopers in the 212th. Ozma, RT-4544, Solaire, Ferrus, RT-2423, Sour, Umu, RT-7700, and Quill would go to the ever-hemorrhaging 501st. Lorrie, Finley, and Racer would get a crash course in SCUBA-combat and join the 115th. The rest of their batch had already marched on–part of the reason they were being split up, if RT-1010 had to guess.
As a result, they’d pulled their mattresses and blankets off their individual bunks and made a central pile on the floor. They lay together, a mass of still-growing limbs and nervous energy. The chatter had petered out at some point, and now only RT-1010 was awake.
He breathed deeply, allowing his eyes to finally close. He wasn’t awake because he wasn’t tired.
He was awake because he wanted to spend as long as possible with his batchmates, clinging to the present with every fiber of his being. The feel of them tangled together like a mass of uncoiled cables. The sounds of them breathing discordantly.
Between one breath and the next, RT-1010 fell asleep.

ohne-vember day 1
”without light”
rui stumbled around the apartment, realizing he didn’t know the layout as well as he thought he did.
he bumped into something, which shifted position a bit. as he headed for the door to the basement, he hit his head on the low doorframe.
“shit—“
“you okay?”
“yeah. i’m trying to get to the basement.”
rui continued, stepping down the few stairs. were there three or four?—four. rui nearly fell, not expecting the fourth step.
he couldn’t see anything in this room, and had no clue what was where. he held out a tentative hand to feel around, occasionally touching bars of metal shelves or dusty cardboard boxes. he recoiled upon accidentally finding a cobweb as it clung to his hand.
tsukasa, whose eyes adjusted to the dark fast, followed rui and startled him upon their hands touching.
“ah!—“
“just me, love.”
“oh,” rui sighed in relief at the sound of tsukasa’s voice. he stumbled around blindly, while tsukasa beelined for the control panel. however, only rui knew how to fix the power on the panel.
“follow my voice, rui.”
“of course, tsukasa-kun..”
rui ran right into a broom, knocking his glasses off his head. tsukasa met up with him and grabbed the glasses to keep him from fumbling around for them.
“here you are.”
“oh— you’re close.”
“too close?”
“no, just— you’re very quiet, surprisingly.”
“sorry.”
“don’t be.”
rui put the glasses back on, blinking a few times despite still being unable to see. tsukasa took rui’s hand and led him to the panel, making sure that rui didn’t step on anything.
rui had to use his memory to fix the power on the panel, remembering what each knob did and how to input the password for the system.
the lights buzzed and turned on.
“there we go.”
“Something always happens. You still have to promise stuff anyway. If you have to work to make the promises true... it’s like a spell. You have to say the words every time you want the results.”
