i feel like sirius is very wary/distrustful of older people, especially authority and therefore when he moved in with the potters it took him a while to be able to actually warm up to the potters and not spend all time in james’ bedroom. his reticence comes from a lack of understanding that adults/older people do want him around and not just to uphold a name or to bear a certain title but solely because they enjoy his company and his person rather than what they want him to be, but also from a lack of a healthy parental figure in his early and later childhood up to his adolescence which makes him consider healthy family dynamics unusual and strange. however when he and the potters actually get to bond sirius does crosswords with fleamont every morning and james said sirius is out on a walk but why is a big, shaggy black dog sitting at euphemia’s feet while she’s knitting?
