Camille: I’m not human so I guess I don’t have to worry about that. Engines have been able to shift to a human form for decades now, even before my time. I guess some sort of maternal instinct I have that I didn’t know I had has shown up since I saw Baby Gordon. And I’m a bit embarrassed by all these new emotions and wants to being a mom. I mean, I took care of a baby goat for Farmer McColl once! I’m rambling again.
Camille: This question is more for the Ramsfield’s then anything. Do baby engines get adopted by other engines? Is that a thing? A-asking for a friend.
@theyellowroseofsodor Mrs. Ramsfield: Yes, on some of the railways my husband and I have visited, there have been engines who have adopted baby engines. Little Tykes amusement park has a program similar to Big Brothers, Big Sisters where the bigger engines will help staff look after the little ones.

Camille: What is the process? I mean, do you think they would consider engines from other worlds? *takes a deep breath with a laugh* I mean, they don’t grow up I know, but it’s a very unique and lovely thing to have a family as an engine. It’s amazing that something like this can happen. Sorry, I’m rambling.

Camille: And thank you for sharing your knowledge and information about adoption with me. It’s really helpful. Maybe one day I can convince Gordon but for now im just happy with caretaking of the little one. It’s almost like seeing into my own Gordon’s past if he had a childhood and it makes me happy. It’s nice to see a less grumpy less snooty side of him, even if it’s technically not him. Does that make sense?

Camille: Actually, here! *shifts to engine form and then back, catching some gold dust in a cup* For helping me out and just… talking. I dunno if you can do anything with it but maybe it’ll make a cool souvenir. *grins* Maybe one day I’ll be able to convince Gordon to have a family, but for now I hope I can babysit soon. Baby Gordon is probably the single most adorable baby I’ve ever seen. *beaming*

Gordon: … … …I’ve never felt like an inadequate mate for Camille. I’ve protected her, comforted her, kept her safe. But, I worry that I’m going to be the reason she won’t be picked as a suitable mother. She may be new to the feelings but she embraces them wholeheartedly. Me? I’m a serious engine with a serious job. I’ve never thought of being in a relationship or having a family, besides Scotsman and… our other… … …
He seems to grow distant at the thought of his lost siblings.
Gordon: What if I lose an infant like I lost… them…?
Gordon: *standing at the door of Sir Topham Hatt’s office at Knapford and finally knocks a bit hesitantly* …. Maybe I shouldn’t… *turns and scratches at his hair in frustration*. Why do things always have to be so complicated??
Just then Sir Topham Hatt opens the door. He is surprised to see Gordon.
STH: Oh, Gordon! I wasn't expecting to run into you. Is there something you need?
Oh I’m sorry, I completely misunderstood what you were saying… For what it’s worth, wanting to make those kinds of posts doesn’t make you a bad person. There’s spaces for it for a reason, after all.

😂 Thanks Gift Anon! You’re the best still. I’m just happy you’ve been understanding. I think I’ll end up posting some things and I’ve never ever thought of doing anything explicit (those thoughts stay hidden under lock and key 😈) but they kind of work with my fic because it is about to get a mature rating because of more dark themes, again nothing explicit but there will be romance and there will be fights and sorrows and well, it’ll be roughly the equivalent to a PG-13 movie nowadays. But most posts here are more pure than anything so I’m like “Do I dare?” It’s not just Gordon and Camille either, it’s James x Edward and Henry x Hiro too. I do plan on marking those sections with a second warning in the fic as well. I feel like if I post warnings then people can’t really complain. 🤷🏽♀️
