Because I was never his biggest fan when reading the books but as someone who likes him id love to know what it is that you like about him (again the tone here comes off wrong but I mean this with genuine curiosity like I want to know other opinions about characters who I have already formed opinions on

I think it’s probably because of how positive he manages to stay. Like through everything (and I know the others do aswell most of the time) he’s usually the one smiling or attempting to make light of the situation. That’s the sort of person I wanted to be when I started reading the books so his character really stuck with me. Plus I simply adore characters who get compared with golden retrievers-

It’s also how intrigued by mysteries and detectives etc he is, which reminds me of myself, despite how involved with those sorts of things he is. Like you’d expect him to be pretty normal about it all, but nope! Additionally, I like his character so much because his family history is so interesting (which is a shame there hasn’t been much chance to explore it). It’s not everyday you read a book where a character is half-American half-Russian in England during the 1930’s.

In conclusion, I just think he’s a neat guy who deserves all the love in the world :)
