Alcatraz breaking gravity

Ok, ok, I know I act like a clown here, but I'm actually pretty into science and physics and stuff. So uhhh...if Alcatraz had shut off gravity for the entire world, the atmosphere would spin off into space and Earth would have collapsed at the equator as the core and mantle explode outward, no longer kept in check by the pressure of gravity. Think ginormous buzzsaw emerging from the inside tearing the Earth in half as it explodes. So I guess it's a good thing that Alcatraz didn't break gravity across the entire planet, just a specific part of the surface, no?

On a lighter note, I would have ABSOLUTELY taken advantage of floating. Like, that's my one goal in life, to soar. And water! Floating water droplets! So cool! But a lot of things would probably be going horribly wrong while I was doing backflips.
