ok so @alwaysupatnight and @sentientdroids tagged me a million years ago but hey everything works out cause today is wednesday! here is a fic i’m working on - the beginning of a sethkate fic from from dusk till dawn the series.  also to anyone who is curious, i am still working on memories of the west lmao

She knew Seth saw heaven as a beach, as a place you could buy your way into, but she saw it differently.  Maybe not pearly white gates and sunbeams and streets of gold - not anymore.  But it was still a holy place, and Kate had never felt further from it.

Seth was close, his breath angry and quick against her face.  It wasn’t the first time he’d tried to back her down like this, but it was the first time she felt close to breaking.

“You want out?” he said.  The inside of the car was dark, but his eyes were clear and terrible.  “Get the fuck out then.”

Kate chewed down her own words, kept herself breathing.  Behind her was the open door.  Freedom.  The only thing she’d prayed for after she’d first met Seth, in that RV, with his batshit brother and her dad barely holding on and Scott with his stupid gun and homicidal hatred for lacrosse players.  

Seth was all around her now, too close to think, so she shut her eyes for a moment, imagined getting out of the car, telling him something that might cut him to the bone.  Cut through all the layers of his bullshit and heroin haze.

Kate took one big, deep breath and yanked the passenger door shut.  She opened her eyes, met his.  “Just drive,” she said.

currently reading: interpreter of maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri.  i read her short story “The Third and Final Continent” in a class and it blew me away.  best short story i’ve ever read.  so i had to get her collection.

currently craving: a coffee from this little coffee shop in my town that just opened up.  it’s like 2:00 AM but it’s all i can think about.

hey!!!! yes, i do! i'm actually working on it today a little - the update, that is! it's not annoying at all to hear you still think about my story ajdkajldka that's so kind! i've gotta buckle down and get this chapter finished. i had such grand plans for the fic - like the whole third act was gonna be really long. but now i'm rethinking it. i think it's more constance and arthur's story now and more about them, so the third act i had planned (more canon story-related stuff) doesn't really fit. so i'm sorta shuffling my ideas around, changing things up. thank u so much for checking in! 🥺

ok so hiiii i’m reappearing after months of silence.  @galadrieljones tagged me in this forever ago but i just now saw it so it still counts.  basically, i gotta describe my fics in the worst way, which i usually already do so

let the wolves enjoy my bones - one sad cowboy mourns another sad cowboy and buries him.  then the still-alive sad cowboy goes to the aid of a dumb cowboy’s family.  everyone is sad and/or dumb.  including the author.  i’ll let you decide which one i am.

the memories of the west - aforementioned sad dead cowboy is alive in this one!  yay!  but he hates himself.  and instead of being happy w/his newfound bride that he kinda accidentally got himself married to, he decides to hate himself more.  the bride is fed up and just wants to fuck already.  instead, they just look at each other a lot and with longing.

the places we left behind - did you think we were done with sad cowboys because we aren’t.  this is just a post-apocalyptic sad cowboy revisiting his older brother’s (who is also, you guessed, a sad, sad cowboy) home.  he misses his brother and dead niece a lot.  he also has a crush on a woman who scares him a little.

scabs, scorpions, and sequoias - old grumpy cowboy and foul-mouthed kid who he has accidentally adopted play a game of would you rather as they ride a horse through a spooky forest.  questions such as would you rather eat shit or bugs are asked.  trees are looked at.  author also has a hard time spelling sequoias.
