This Is My New Dont Starve Oc, Wren

This is my new Don’t Starve oc, Wren

I had a few concepts and ideas for DS ocs, but I decided to go with Wren first because the more I thought around with her the more I loved her.

I’ll get the ‘in-game info’ out of the way first because I’ve got some stuff to say about her-

Wren the Unruly, “Life’s no fun unless you break the rules!”

Hunger: 200

Sanity: 150

Health: 200

Gains sanity from destroying structures

Doesn’t take much damage from environmental hazards

Enemies hold aggro. longer

Does more damage when hungry

Instrument: Hurdy-Gurdy

Age: 16

Birthday: December 25th

Favorite Food: Pumpkin Cookie

Personality: Wren is... A lot of things; loud, annoying, mischievous, a troublemaker, untamed, rebellious, the list goes on with many colorful descriptive words describing her, but the one that sums her up the most is unruly. Or feral depending on who you ask. Wren’s very ruff and tumble with just about anyone she comes across, always pressing everyone’s buttons and causing mayhem both on purpose and on accident. Despite being loud and outgoing, Wren can quiet down when the time calls for it and can be a quite the good listener if you need someone to vent to. But Wren has a hard time expressing certain emotions, especially to adults, for fear of being ignored/brushed off or being taken advantaged of when she’s in her most vulnerable state.

And if there’s one thing she’s learned in her short time on the Constant, it’s that-

The Constant preys on those who are weak, and vulnerable...

TL;DR- Wren is an absolutely FERAL child, who should be supervised at all times or else she’s gonna end up exploding the whole base if left to her own devices.

Now then, I struggled really hard when designing Wren

I struggled more-so on what clothes I should give her, because I wanted her to ‘look feminine’ while still looking like a tomboy

Hell, I originally thought about putting her in an overall skirt, but thought it looked to weird on her, I couldn’t even decide which color I wanted her overalls to be!

Originally was gonna go with blue but then I tried that dull red and decided that I liked it more, but I still really liked the dull blue so I have another file with that color- but whatever

From day one when I was thinking of making a Don’t Starve oc (and not just redesigning my characters in the style) I knew, deep down, that the character I would make would just be an absolute little shit gremlin of a character

I rushed this so hard, this is so rushed but I really wanted to draw myself as a mermaid

I based myself off of a Dumbo Octopus, ya’know, those little octopi that are super cute and I want one? Yeah, those ones. I made the tentacles too long but whatever

Also I drew myself wearing a plastic bag as a top, because I couldn’t think of a suitable thing for me to wear (seashells and starfish felt too.. sexual)

Local Child Yells at Two Cats for Turning Her into A Furry

I remember a while ago I saw a furry ask thing where it was like “Who was the character who turned you into a furry?” or it was something along those lines, and I thought all the way back to my childhood and THESE TWO FUCKERS WERE THE ROOT OF IT ALL!

Mr. Kat was the fucking gateway drug to my cat obsession and my furry life. And Gordon was my second, and most noticeable, ‘cat crush’.

I was crazy for both of these fictional cats, and for a while before I thought of a fursona (the creation of Tiger is for another day) I used Mr. Kat as ‘my character’. And though I don’t have many memories of Gordon, I do remember that I was also obsessed with him, and he was my absolute FAVORITE out of the 3 brothers. (I also remember that I hated Human Kimberly because Gordon loved her)

These two were the beginning of my fictional crushes and the beginning of my journey to discovering that I’m a fucking furry

Also we’re just not gonna talk about the atrocious anatomy on myself, I can’t draw perspective and I can’t draw hands, and my characters may as well not have faces because wtf are expressions?

I just discovered why I don’t have that many memories of Gordon and why I remember Mr. Kat the most-

The first episode of Catscratch aired on July 9, 2005, and the first episode of Kid Vs Kat aired on October 25, 2008.

And I was born December 4, 2003. I WAS FUCKING 2 WHEN CATSCRATCH FIRST AIRED, and I was 5 when Kid Vs Kat first aired. For some reason I always though KvK came first and Catscratch came after...

Eh whatever, these two will always have a special place in my heart, for both nostalgia reasons and that weird kind of love you still have for your ex-partners reasons
