Should Gwen be with Miles in the end? If not, then please state your reasons. (I don't think she should honestly.)

Hi! Thank you so much for the ask, and on one of my very favorite subjects!! For this, I’ll be focusing specifically on the in-story reasoning I have, and not talking about how I feel narratively they weren’t set up correctly (I definitely have posts on that as well lol)

My two biggest points are as follows (in no particular order)

1. Gwen is not mentally well right now and one of the last things she needs is a romantic relationship. She has a lot of work she needs to do on herself before she could ideally get into a healthy one, especially with Miles, as during their time apart they both idealized and put one another onto pedestals that neither could really nor should live up to. Rose-tinted glasses and all that.

2. Miles trust in Gwen has been undoubtedly broken by the events that unfolded at the Spider-society. Yes, it wasn’t entirely Gwens fault, and yes she didn’t actively betray him, but Miles still reaped the consequences of her actions against him and I’m tired of people not recognizing that.

And a 3rd point for funsies, I just personally don’t buy them working as a couple. Friends? Yes absolutely! I love friends! But their personalties as a couple? Eh :/ and that’s not even getting into Gwens lack of boundaries.

I was rewatching Gideon Rises and that scene in which he taunts Dipper by saying he has no muscle nor brains to fight back by himself without the Journal's help really gets to me...

And you know what? Ignore Ford's biased by society's expectations on a 1960's man: Dipper's greatest strenght was NEVER his brains.

I mean, he's incredibly smart, there's no doubt. But Gravity Falls is not a place in which you can survive with that alone despite Gideon and Ford saying so.

Dipper's greatest strenght was always the same as Stan: it's how much he loves his family and how far he's willing to go for his sister.

That same love was what made him stand up to the weirdness in Gravity Falls and always find a way out countless times. It's the reason he could sacrifice things for Mabel again and again and never once feel like she was in debt. The reason he could rescue her from Bill's perfect prison in Mabeland and EVEN THE REASON FORD WAS STILL HERE FOR WEIRDMAGEDDON.

The only thing able to subdue Dipper's very naturally human fear of death was his love for his new great uncle.

On a parallel note, Ford's strenght was actually the same as Mabel all along. His love for the unconventional and ability to think outside the box.

The same episode Mabel meets her favorite magical creature and finds out they're an asshole we get the flashback of Ford experiencing the exact same thing.

my hometown is completely gone from what pictures i can find of it, i have not heard from my family (including aunts, uncles, parents, one sibling, and a grandparent), and the infrastructure in the mountain communities is wiped out. i cannot stress how catastrophic this is, or how difficult it will be for these communities to build back. i am angry, and scared, and heartbroken by everything that's happened.

and our government is spending it's money to fund a genocide.
