Even though I'm 18, I've thought about death a lot more than those my age. This isn't for any edgy reason, but rather just from questioning reality, the universe, and everything else as a whole. We don't truly know what happens to us after we die; most of us like to believe that we go to heaven or that we get reincarnated, etc. But, we don't really know? I know something, however: I know that me, myself, won't be present anymore. And so, I don't want any unnecessary rituals taking place for my empty vessel as if I were still inhabiting it. While I'm not against traditional funerals taking place, I personally don't want one to take place for me.
I want to be turned into soil when I die. I originally wanted all of my healthy organs to be harvested, but I've decided against that now. I want all of my vessel to be laid to rest while nature creates new life from what has ended. With what is done with this soil after the process is complete, I don't know what to expect? Heck, it could be sold as plant food afterward for all I care! I just wish for my body to go back to the soil from which it came, you know?
My mother also wants her body to be turned into soil; she decided this after I told her about what I'd like to happen to me. She told me that she'd like to be used for growing a tree, and I'm making sure to honor that wish the best I can when the time comes.
We both most likely have many years left. Fate can be unpredictable, though, so who knows?
