The Banyoles Fisheries Are A Set Of Twenty House-shaped Lake Buildings, Built On The East And South Shores

The Banyoles fisheries are a set of twenty house-shaped lake buildings, built on the east and south shores of the Banyoles lake, on the side of the city, similar to a stilt house. They are the evolution and consolidation of the old walkways that, due to the shallowness of the lake shores, were built for fishing.

They were built throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. They are advanced in the water to have sufficient depth for fishing and are founded on the travertine slab inside the Lake. All are located in the area closest to the town. Of the existing twenty (one is divided into two bodies), five are less than fifteen square meters, seven between twenty and thirty, five of other sizes and only two of more than one hundred and sixty.

On January 15, 1997, they were declared a cultural asset of national interest as a historical garden.

Location: Banyoles, Girona, Catalonia, Southern Europe.

The chamois, sometimes called the Pyrenean chamois to distinguish it from the Alpine chamois, is a common bovid in the Pyrenees. It is found in the Pyrenees in general, although there are also small populations in other mountain ranges in southern Europe such as the Apennines and the Cantabrian Mountains.Location: Setcases, Girona, Catalonia, Southern Europe. The mandarin duck (Annera mandarin in the Balearic Islands) (Aix galericulata) is a species of anseriform bird in the Anatidae family native to China, Japan and Siberia. Endowed with vivid colors, it has been introduced to various parts of Europe and is highly appreciated for its beauty.

In this case it is a female and the difference in plumage is related to the ease of hiding during nesting.
