the events that lead to yanqing getting his wings in more detail + other stuff under cut! (CW human experimentation)

after yanqing killed jing yuan he was kind of in shock and very subdued which was good for the sanctus medicus disciples that are going to kidnap him 👍

so they kidnapped yanqing (they did this to all survivors btw) and decided to continue to pursue immortality, but this time they can do more immoral things without much repercussions!!

btw the disciples caused the mara virus thing (it got out of control and breached containment) but it's ok cuz they're like, immune, to the virus

anyways the immoral things was basically human experimentation, among other stuff. one day the disciples decided to test yanqing's blood/dna and stuff and found out he's part wingweaver but the wingweaver part of him is dormant and somehow the disciples managed to activate it (is that the correcr word???)

so at some point after yanqing grows out new limbs excruciatingly, the mara mutates again which the disciples are NOT immune against. the disciples got semi-infected and went on a spree, but they're also less coordinated so yanqing managed to get out (not out of the building lol. he was too busy hunting down the surviving disciples)

anyways after that blade finds this weird building and finds yanqing (in a room with corpses and blood) on the floor so still and limp that blade almost thought that he was dead if not for how yanqing's (now lightless) eyes follow blade.

blade decided to take yanqing bc of some guilt regarding jing yuan (and also bc no one else would be able to survive). also yanqing is so fucking dissociated when blade found him

btw this all happened within like, 3 months? give or take.

blade made a sword specifically made for yanqing called sky shaker

sky is actually yanqing's codename/nickname bc yanqing sees himself as a weapon (i mean not rlly but!! it's complicated!!!)

the mara outbreak happened at least 2000 years ago

blade's current hairstyle is the same as when he was yingxing

yanqing calls blade ren-ge

yanqing is like op. jingliu level op. maybe even more

sometimes yanqing licks the abundance blood off of his sword cuz it smells tasty to him (it just smells like normal blood but with plant undertones)

yanqing keeps the broken remains of his bell bracelet thing at all times bc it's one of the few things he has that was from jing yuan

sky is actually shorter than yanqing
