reddie’s wedding but instead of them choosing who walks down the aisle they both get blindfolded and start at opposite sides of the room and it’s a competition where whoever reaches the alter first gets to say their vows first
YALL LISTEN UP
Netflix just released a series called On My Block with a cast made up of ONLY POC. YOU HEAR THAT? Every character is POC. IN FACT, main characters are Latino, Afro Latina, and Black and it’s so good! It illustrates the struggles that inner city kids from LA face but in a light hearted way. It doesn’t vilify characters and it shows how the choices (some good and bad) that these characters made are an effect of how they were brought up. ITS SO GOOD GUYS. I need you to watch it and share it with everyone you know cause this show and One Day At A Time are the only representation of Latino teenagers we have and I don’t want it to have the same fate as the get down so PLS GO WATCH
RANT OVER
just got back from love, simon!! if you live in an accepting community then i can see how love, simon was a good experience for you, overall it was a good experience for me as well because the film was awesome, but as someone who lives in a really conservative small town it was great to see the film but actually going to the theater to see it was a little scary. the poster for the film outside the theater was vandalized, simon’s eyes were scratched out and it said the f-slur on it so it read “love, f*ggot simon” the theater tried to cover it up but they couldn’t all the way/it looked like it had repeat vandalisms so maybe they gave up. there were only a few people in the theater, and when you bought tickets the attendants looked you up and down
everyone in the theater looked a bit scared and kinda hid their faces/pulled their hoods up if they had one when a new person would walk in to take a seat. it was obvious most people there were afraid they were gonna see someone they knew, likely afraid they were gonna be outed bc around here if you support gay content you’re labeled as gay. there certainly wasn’t applause or cheering during the film like it was QUIET. like we seemed to be enjoying the film but we kept to ourselves. when the film ended nobody posed with the cutouts bc again they appeared to be vandalized/it was awkward with the movie theater attendees just staring at you.
i’m just saying i keep seeing people implying that this film has ended homophobia in film, that gay content is officially mainstream, or people saying “why are people making a big deal out of this film, it’s okay to be gay now” like uhhh maybe in bigger cities i could see people thinking that way but for smaller places in the USA good lgbt+ films and others like it (moonlight) are just the beginning of sorely needed rep (GOOD and HEALTHY lgbt+ rep, NOT cmbyn) that will take a LONG time to really be normalized, so that people don’t have to have the unsettling yet common experience i did at the theater today. love, simon was so amazing, but my experience at my theater was not and that only made me realize even more how important films like this are, more films like love simon more films like moonlight. anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant.

Just find out I’ve never posted these doodles on tumblr.
