A Gale That Still Wears His Earring By The End Of His Adventure. Touches It Sometimes, When Hes Thinking
A Gale that still wears his earring by the end of his adventure. Touches it sometimes, when he’s thinking too hard. Runs his thumb along the grooves and pushes hard on one of the points until the pain grounds him. He remembers how it had felt to get it—to grin at himself in the mirror afterward, tilting his jaw to watch the silver catch orange-golden sunlight through the bedroom window. He remembers how it felt to race down the stairs to show his mum, and how she’d kissed his forehead and told him he looked dashing.
So it’s a part of him, now, as much as anything.
A Gale that keeps the statuette of Mystra on his desk when he comes home. It’s because he doesn’t want to look at it, to deal with it. Long were the nights he spent studying with a cramped hand and a tense jaw, and easy was the relief of looking upon her and remembering for whom he was doing it.
Those nights are a part of him, too. So the statuette stays.
A Gale whose eyes still linger on her altar when he passes on his walk about the city. She is more beautiful than any statue makes her out to be, limited as they are by the static of stone. They cannot smile at him as she did when making him her Chosen.
He cannot bring himself to watch the boys who bruise their knees kneeling for her.

hi queen luv you, for the fic writer questions, if you're still answerin' 😈 24, 26, 65
HI QUEEN LUV U MORE 🫶
24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?
My ELA teacher in middle school encouraged creative writing, but actively and vocally discouraged her students from reading and writing fanfiction, which is unfortunately pretty common :/ Listen. Were the One Direction imagines I consumed particularly well-crafted literature? I wouldn’t say so. But those in combination with the published books I was reading gave me a sense that writing was an approachable hobby as a beginner—and that was enough to get me started. Hopefully she has since adopted the attitude of most people in the literary world of “Heavily policing the ‘quality’ of what kids read is bad, actually.”
26. Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?
Probably sanguine/decathect if only because I used to be a very passive fic poster and not be super involved in fandom spaces, but everyone has been SO nice about those that I was encouraged to make friends & connections and be more active on tumblr! I also never thought I’d write for a fandom exchange so that was a super cool thing to be a part of (thanks in no small part to u MWAH)
65. Tell us about what you're most looking forward to writing - in your current project, or a future project
as u know quite well I have been ah… chewing on the idea of writing a winter olympics hockey player/figure skater bloodweave au… which I think is so delicious but I’m putting it off until I finish the perfumer au which I promise I haven’t forgotten exists ahahah… I’m gonna get that last chapter out if it kills me. and it might
After his first time accompanying Gale to a reunion of the enormous and overwhelming Dekarios family, Astarion is rewarded. Sort of.
True character love is when you are so obsessed you view them as pathetic and evil bc you notice the flaws no one else sees don’t apologize I live for it
he’s so complex! he’s the devil on my shoulder. a worm in the pocket of my overalls. a bay leaf in my pasta sauce
8 and 20 for the fic writer questions!
source!
8. Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story?
It totally depends what I’m working on—I absolutely HATE writing the ends of smut fics (and it’s very obvious I rush through doing it) because to me the most interesting part of a sexual experience is the middle. It’s where I try to fit in the most characterization/dynamic building details because it always feels natural to kinda slot them in there. But if I’m rambling about Mystra on tumblr? I love endings. I try to make my angstier stuff kind of pack a punch at the end, and I think it’s fun to finish with something a little ~haunting~
20. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?
oh my god. too fucking many. I’m a chronic phrase reuser (though I’ve been trying to get better about it recently!!) I think thematically I really like ideas of obsession and devotion which is why I like writing gale so much. I also tend to prefer setting stuff as close to canon as possible, it’s much easier for me to work with!
