"Mickey left Aqua in the Realm of Darkness for 10 years!" Mickey had NO IDEA where Aqua was for 10 years and when he DID find her he 1) wasn't prepared for it in the slightest and didn't even have a plan for how he would escape safely and 2) she literally told him to leave her behind to make sure he and Riku could go home safely. After which he was caught up in a shit ton of other things to take care of and didn't have the resources or time to launch a rescue.

One thing I don't often see people talk about in Steven Universe.

In the series most of Stevens powers come from a need to protect those around him. His shield, his bubble, healing spit/tears, all designed, and come from the desire to, protect those around him. With the exception of his floating which comes from a sense of joy and happiness.

In Future his new powers stem from a subconscious need to protect himself, instead of a need to protect others. He's dealing with a lot and his powers are reacting in an explosive way to keep him safe. Super speed to escape a dangerous situation, explosive screams to throw the threat away from him, and panels, thicker and stronger than his shield and bubble, to shield him from the perceived threat.

Which then makes me wonder, since Pink on Homeworld was known for destructive "temper tantrums" how often she must've felt so unsafe, scared and unhappy that her powers reacted the way Stevens do in Future.

When she became Rose Quartz she felt confident, comfortable and more safe as Rose than as Pink. She had a strong desire to protect the Earth and the Crystal Gems, developing her powers into the ones we see most in the show.

Pooh Parallels/Analysis

From the moment Merlin brings Pooh’s book out, something about Sora’s reactions feel off.  He is uncharacteristically subdued, especially at the thought that he’ll get to see his old friends.  Compare his reaction in KH3 to his much more enthusiastic reaction in KH2:

In KH3 he almost looks…sad (remind you of another certain scene?).  At first you might just write this off as him being worried about Pooh- and I’m sure some of it is that- but this vibe from Sora continues through the entire segment.

When Sora finds Pooh, the first thing Pooh says is “You’re home.”  Such an odd thing too say, and it even confuses Sora for a moment:

“You’re home.” “Uh…huh?  Good to see you, Pooh.”

Why would they have Pooh say something that even Sora finds strange (so that the audience takes notice)?  Later Sora realizes that Pooh meant “home” as in his heart, but it also serves as a reference to the well known final line of KH2:

Pooh uses the same exact phrase as Kairi in both English and Japanese versions.

Man, I just can't with this gothic mickey

My Toon/Detroit Becomes Human Au is consuming me I think during my Broken Bonds stories I will make this as well.

These are rough ideas for upcoming project!

Character Placements (So Far, these may change but I love these so far!)

Oswald - The Leader of Wasteland, a forgotten toon who refused his creators. Even after losing everything dear to him he still stayed determined, and came upon the sanctuary for toons, Wasteland. He was Oswald.

Mickey - One of the most famous toons in history, mascot of the infamous company that began the world production of toons across the world. Now in charge of investigating the mysterious uprise of toons breaking from their character. Though he too begins to question his own identity as well.

Donald - Bitter to humans after watching the loss of his family before him growing up in a detention camp for toons, his own nephews crushed before they even hatched. He had been sold to many homes throughout the decades being a servant for many different purposes. He is soon purchased and given to a family of two after the death of their old toon. However even deep in his depression something guides him to the small child, Sora sweet but oddly quiet and skittish.

Notes:

Mickey and Oswald are brothers in this too au they just don’t know it yet.

Donald does not no Mickey in this Au

Sora is a human in this (I know he’s a human in the games as well.) I mean there is no twist of him being a toon.

Other toons are in this but mainly it’s focused on the characters I adore! But Felix and some Warner bro cartoons make an appearance!

Wasteland is Jericho

Mickey is kinda brainwashed under the control of the corrupt Disney, he sees a figment hallucination of his father figure Walt telling him these things (kinda like Amanda).

If you have any questions I’ll answer them with what I have so far I need to begin a document on this!

Also the idea of Mickey being Connor was suggested by @turbodawn7-13 and it sparked my imagination!!!
