The orchestra played in the background in the gaudy ballroom, you felt suffocated caged with all the masked nobles, their bodies swaying to the music as they twirled around, discussed their shallow privilege, people often forgot about you when you were in the same room as your brother, Seokjin, the crown prince captured all the attention in the room, not that you minded it, you were used to it. You did not mind being the shadow under his radiant light, after your father died, he would get the throne and you did not mind that either. You had never been one for enjoying public gatherings, so when your brother had taken the lead, you never hesitated in hiding behind him. Despite the golden aura he had around him, intimidating people with his presence alone, he always carried an air of grandiose around him, but with you he was always big brother Seokjin. Never Prince Seokjin. He was warm, protective and a better parent than your real parents had ever been. To them Seokjin was their son and you were a commodity that could be sold off to form alliances. You politely excused yourself and headed to the balcony to get some air and peace of mind.
