Samah's story :

"I am Samah from Gaza, and I am reaching out to the free people of the world to help save my family from the genocide we are facing. We are a family of five: my husband, our two daughters (aged 9 and 2), and our 6-month-old infant son, who was born under the constant sound of drones and warplanes amidst heavy shelling. Because of the war, we lost our beautiful home, which we had built with years of hard work and sacrifice, and we have been displaced multiple times, moving from place to place in search of safety, but the bombing follows us everywhere.

We have lost our jobs, and my husband is now responsible for his three siblings, who have also lost everything. We are trying to survive in tents without running water or electricity, struggling daily to find food and water. We often wait for hours to get untreated water, and obtaining food comes with great risks. The simplest necessities of life have become luxuries beyond our reach; bathing is rare, and baby formula and diapers are almost impossible to find, and if available, they are extremely expensive.

In the winter, we suffered from the freezing cold inside the tent, and now we are enduring the extreme summer heat. Our children are getting sick due to the unsanitary conditions, suffering from skin rashes and respiratory infections. The situation is worsening, as we have no proper medical care, and our children are at risk of diseases like polio due to the contaminated water in Gaza.

We live in constant fear, with death lurking at every corner—whether from the bombings or the harsh living conditions. Every day could be our last. Our only hope lies in God’s mercy and the support of those who stand with us during this horrific time."

Becoming a positive person does not mean never experiencing negative emotions. It means learning to cope with them in a healthy way and being able to recognize that those feelings are temporary. Please don’t ever be upset with yourself for feeling.

it’s better used for making friends 😭 plus i joined before i realized i’m aromantic 🥺

Why do able-bodied men feel the need to police disabled women’s disabilities?

Context:

I have chronic, episodic bone pain in my left leg. Not sure what exactly it is but it stems from the osgoode schlatter (extra bone) in my knee and an untreated sprain from years ago. Episodic basically means some days I can’t move and others I am totally fine.

Now, I got a cane yesterday. My first mobility aid. I also live in a supposedly “accessible” college campus.

The dining hall on campus just got renovated so instead of a single entrance and exit, theres now one entrance with turnstiles and one exit with turnstiles on separate parts of the caf.

There is only one elevator and its outside the entrance which means disabled people have to take exit via the entrance.

Well today, on a scale of 1-10, was about an 8 on the pain scale. So yes, I had my cane and my limp was more pronounced because of how much I was relying on my cane for support. So I go to lunch in the caf and when I go to leave, this fucking white dude (who’s apparently the manager of our school’s dining hall) PUTS HIS FUCKING HANDS ON ME and tells me to go out the exit. The exit with stairs. The exit with THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS.

I look him dead in the face and said “I’m not an idiot, I know where the exit is, but you WATCHED ME WALK OVER HERE and you’re going to tell me I have to take the stairs?”

Y’all I am fuminggggggggg at his response.

He SCOFFED and asked why I was FAKING a disability. If it wouldn’t have gotten me charged with assault (or had me falling over) I would have taken out his shins. Anyway, shoutout to this one girl who was coming in when she heard that and started yelling at him as I got on the elevator.

Anyway if he does it again I WILL be whacking him in the shins and claiming self defense :D
