the beach break up is objectively funny in the sense that erik puts his heart on the line ‘I want you by my side. we want the same thing’ aka we’re in love and want to be together just for charles, the pragmatist thinking of mutant/human relations, to say ‘no my FRIEND (friendzone much?) we do not’, rejecting erik. then erik immediately gets framed for assassinating jfk and put in jail, w only the thought of charles and hank all alone in that mansion together to occupy his time

so i watched x-men first class last night and um

everyone say hello to the new doomed gays living in my head-

now that everyone and their mother is suddenly a die hard x-men fan I am expecting an influx of cherik content from the fandom

Charles: *getting Erik out of jail for the millionth time*

Charles: "Why would you think any of this was a good idea?"

Erik: "Probably because I'm a dangerous sociopath with a long history of violence."

Charles: "Oh."

Erik: "I don't know how you keep forgetting that."

His Xmen in the background: "Trust us, we neither."

Charles: *looking up to Erik with his big blue eyes* "There's still good in you, I know it."

Erik: *shark smile at Charles* "You are the biggest idiot on Earth."

Xmen & Brotherhood: "We'll get something to eat, cya two later."

I really like the ending of Dark Phoenix because Charles' emotional changes are quite touching.

After the loss of Raven and Jean, Charles shuts himself off and has become more defensive. But Erik appears without expectation, saying something that he would never have imagined after their departure. Erik's genuine words are just like what he would say to lead Erik in the old days. The unbelievable look on Charles' face is quite visible. 

Charles is astounded, not just because Erik proactively wants to be with him again but also because he wants to be in Erik's company too. He is ready to be in exile for the rest of his life due to his terrible decisions towards Raven and Jean. To his surprise, Erik offers a home and the hope of going on with him. He really thinks he does not deserve all these at this point, so he is confused by Erik's kind gesture. 

At the exact moment, Erik tells him that Charles does not always make the wrong decisions. It is Charles' compassion and determination that make the exact Erik who is willing to give love and hope in front of him.

Charles loosens up his defence, accepts Erik's offer, and smiles. 

They have changed greatly, but they also stay the same. Charles and Erik have become better people now, both for themselves and for each other.

They deserve such a beautiful ending.
